Hi Bill,
About tap tempo I sort of made the DBD to prove a point that tap tempo isn't always needed ( sometimes it is) but I had a professor in guitar play for me perfectly or shall we say imperfectly out of tempo with the repeats in order to check if
A, it would be disturbing to the musician
B. if it would be disturbing to the listener
It was concluded then on both A and B that since the repeats were not exact replicas of the fundamental or dry sound repeats did not get in the way of playing or listening.
Yes I have considered tap tempo and also came to the conclusion that when that is most effective the repeats would preferably be dead on replicas of the dry fundamental delay times where tap tempo would be most effective would be 600mS to 1000mS, which is beyond the delay times of Deep Blue Delay.
I have looked at delay mediums that would allow sufficient delay times at a bandwidth I'd find acceptable ( minumum 5KHz and preferably 7KHz) and tap tempo solutions for such devices.
This somewhat collided with random modulation that I found more interesting to make but let's say solutions for tap tempo with device capable of making suffient delay time and sufficient bandwidth are few and some such solutions are even bought as in locked to one manufacturer other solutions I am looking at but with no particular urgency.
Yes I did design the MP Deep Blue Delay Dlx as well while that has a delay time maximum just shy of 600mS making tap tempo not so interesting but the forte that the DBD dlx has is it's multiple repeats making for complex delays.
I'd like to think of echoes in three categories
A. as used instead of reverb
B . for medium delay times used to fill in gaps but not really make dubbling
C. for dubbling echo e.g.like Les Paul would or setting long delays perfectly on tempo
Have fun
