I was thinking that from a marketing perspective it would actually be good for Bjorn to add a 4th knob to certain designs to distinguish the premium BJFE models from the Bearfoot brand which is doing a great job filling the mid priced niche. It could work the same for the Finnish Mad Professor pedals as well.

Yes this has been a long ongoing discussion as you might guess  .....
The problem is what do you put on the fourth knob?
Some will want treble, some will want mids, compression, impedance etc.....
The outboard solutions like the SBEQ,PHumper, RRB,LRT etc seem to make more sense in the long run ....
I know Ive seen many custom tweek peds over the years that were later requested to be put back to standard so they could be resold or circumstances had changed etc....

Might be interesting to have a poll or discussion about 'If you could add one knob to each of the standard models -what would it be?'

I think you will have no problem getting a number of replies on this, myself included...well, two are obvious: treble for Model H and EGDM...lower mids control for Dyna Red, although right you could have it voiced with some pre-set lower mids, and it could certainly benefit from having an additional presence control, so that the high could be say "tamed", yet the overall voicing of the upper frequencies could be set/left more open.

There are lines of course that emerge, when one may want something very specific/custom, and yes the outboard pre and post EQ/boost solutions work very effectively, though there is that bit of a balancing/convenience dynamic(or conundrum depending on how you look at it), where a balanced and varied sound is achieved in a self contained unit(Model G comes instantly to mind), and where different EQ/boost settings emerge specific to each drive pedal that is used.

Of course, after all this time, recently it came to me that since Bjorn thinks so outside of the conventional box, that 3-knobs can't always properly represent
the brilliance of his designs.

Did anyone else notice the green four knob enclosure that Don posted on bearfoot Facebook.

I think I will sell a spare amp to have $$$ on hand for a custom box bearfoot. I am holding out for a certain green pedal... ;)

HBOD with a Treble knob to dial in the brightness. Many love the dark tones but there are plenty of folks who find it too dark for their rigs...

PPF with a Voltage Sag knob -- no explaination required here :king

EGDM and MH(vT) with their respective trimmers on the outside.

Or if you want to really do something awesome -- having a compression knob on the EGDM would be epic.

SYODv2 with a "Bite/Sharpness" knob to dial it in between the smoother distortion characteristics of the SYODv2 and the bright cutting distortion tones of the SYODv1.

:pedallove

Question.... should this topic be its own thread? :idea
