Love the look and a very nice vintage sound too. 8)
BJF's are invading my other boards. This one replaces a EH Wiggler running out of Fender Rhodes keyboard. Awesome sounds, also a nice combo running into the SYT as well. One of my favs on guitar too. :)

Thats got to be beautiful sound - do you like t he Minivibe better than the Rhodes vibrato ???

and yeah complex dual wave modulation are the most fun !!!! more lesliesh sometimes

Well I thought I would post this as a follow up to the last board pic I posted.
After months of a/b'ing. This is the setup I most happy to use. Very functional(at least for my musical needs), no guessing , and only 3 dirts. :D

Image

First in line, tuner, then wah(which I a/b ed five of those), which I cant seem to get off my board.

Then Octron,,which I really only use the octave Down effect, but use it quite often. Very tight and warm sounding. I was hoping BJ could come up with a small box octave down someday

The VCF is gets tweaked to a less funky setting since wah is on board, but more shall I say horn like. Sits pretty nice in the effects loop of the Octron.

Next is LRT, then PGC but I feel like this might be the only switch left to make.Maybe PGC>LRT. PGC most always on as is the BPB.

The Folk Phaser is a treat to play, very vocal. Looking forward to the MP version as well. I have it set before the dirt, just my preference. I can juice it with the Octave UP for more intense phasing if needed, but usually dont.

After many a od/dist trial, I am left with SYOD>DRD>Model R.
The two drives are set to stand alone, and be stacked.
The Model R is just right for my current rig. I could go on about these 3 but most already know they are amazing.

The MGMV has been irreplaceable. I swaped out the Blue(keys), went with the Green for guitar. Much a part of my sound

Next would be the PHumper. Great for use with all the modulation effects on board. It really pushes the effect out even more. I also use it with the SYOD at times.

Unfortunately the SYT got outed by the Powerglide. Both very musical, I just really liked having a two speed setting, plus I had space for it. The SYT sits with the SBMV on the Rhodes now and is great. I would love to see a BJF 2 stomp Trem too. :)

Another effect I cant bump is the TZF. Only draw back is size.

The DBD I really like. If I had another one and say a BJF analog delay, the TES would likely be gone. I actually realize I could fits about 4 DBD's in place of the TES, more options,,and it would be cheaper.

The SBEQ and BPB really help end the chain nicely. SBEQ set for bass boost and slight treble boost.

Really this rig would do great with just LRT>PGC>PH>SBEQ>BPB. This alone is a very versitile combo. By themselves they really help fine tune all the other effects. I cant really express how important these 5 pedals have become. I stare at the board alot less simply because I know what I want and how to get it quick.
Maybe Im just more picky now, but I do know Ive never been more content with my rig than I am now. I can really get my "own" sound out of it, which for me is very important.

PS: BJ, sorry for all the hints towards non exsisting pedals,,,you know Im just dying to have an all BJFE board. cheers 8)

Ah, so you have one of the SYOD's. I can see that you like it, but I'm curious as to how you use it. What types of settings used most often? What kind of amp and style(s) of music?

Cool, the fabled Toneczar Powerglide!!! What number is yours? I'm curious as to how many of these exist. Ed claims that he's going to start making them again in stereo and mono versions, but who knows when that will happen. The waiting list is currently closed.

Hi Doc,
I usually leave it set to one setting now. A good bit of volume, and a medium amount of gain. Treble set to max that I would ever need it and I can always roll the tone down on the guitar to smooth it out. I really like it with the PGC on too.
It really breaks up the amp nice byitself. Gives nice control over dynamics and can be fairly transparent if needed, while still providing that nice punch. I also will use it with the PHumper for a more percussive attack, kinda like you can get with the LGW.

Its one I could leave on for alot of songs. We do mostly jam based matieral,,rock, jazzy funk, funky reggae, jam grass, afro-beat orchestra grooves, some heavy stuff, but all jam based.

At the same time its set to stack into the DRD. Found the sweet spots of the two together and it really sings. Using the SYOD>DRD stack for alot of leads for the rock related material. The R does real well too,,, but I usually hit the DRD for leads if the SYOD is already on to avoid the tap dance. The R gets to shine byitself for a few tunes as it is.
The opposite works well too,,,having the DRD set for med gain, then hitting the SYOD into for the lead. Pretty cool setup IMO.

Oh yes current amp set up it Traynor 20watt with 4x12 ext cab, greenbackers. I actually dont think I will have these too much longer,
Im getting rid of my Mesa LS and Twin RI as well, I kinda have something else in mind.

It is #10. Not sure how many are out there. This one is mono.
Stereo out of delay into stereo in/out trem would be a awesome effect. :D

Hi Cabo,

Coolness. Yes, I use the SYOD>DRD stack for the real rock leads as well. My "SYOD" is actually the Dynamic Amber Overdrive (DAOD), which is the prototype for what became your SYOD (and Teahead's Little Purple Overdrive)...all the same circuit, just different color boxes.

My favorite rock lead stack is DAOD (V 10:00, T 11:00, D 2:00) > DRD (V 12:00, T 1:00, D 1:00). That is absolutely monstrous sounding. I use DAOD by itself on almost all the time, as it covers so many bases. The DRD will get used by itself for harder rock rhythms or for rockish leads where I still don't want it to be totally over-the-top. I use the stack for when it's time to go all-out and re-decorate whatever club I'm gigging at, LOL.

Cool man, glad you're having fun!!!

For "The Parade"

Postby DocRock » Thu Aug 23, 2007 10:51 am

Hi

Here's another for the Pedal Pic Parade. This is my Dyna Red Distortion (best distortion pedal EVER), custom painted in what turned out to be a marbellized bronze appearance. It's a standard DRD, but the text is "DocRock's Distortion."

How cool!!!

Doc :D

P.S. I'll try to remember to take a pic of my board. I have five BJF's and one MP.
