for the past month or so I have not picked up anything but my Swan. Its simply the best feeling and sounding guitar I have. It was instant bondage since day 1. I could go on about it all day!! :D
I highly suggest checking the demo out if possible.

my 'reference' guitar is my old Tele as I can instanty tell where a new pedal or amp fits on the spectrum....

but it has a Duncan stack vintage and a TV
Jones neck pup - these sonically put it about center between a Tele and a P9o/Humbucker and the neck is about halfway between a single and a hummer ---- and I can tell which way to go quickly... but it doenst really sound like a 'classic' Tele, so I should almost put 'other' ...

my #1 is a Gretsch Branded, TV Jones Designed, Spectra Sonic Lead model (G6143). I've had it since march and it knocked my previous #1 Tele down to a back up.

Maybe I've always been a gretsch man, and didn't know it?

Hi EJ,
Swans are made by Jim Soloway http://solowayguitars.com. A great guy to deal with and makes very quality instruments. Its a bit longer of a scale length(27) but the spacing feels good with me,,,I think because I play alot of bass, I dont feel bunched up.
Its very articulate in note seperation and really gives it a big sound. they will pretty much make you what you want and Jim is very helpful and interested in your tonal requirements. overall a great experience!

My current #1 is a guitar that at first glance you'd say, "what a piece of crap". It's an 80's Greco copy of a Ibanez Jem type guitar but with a standard strat trem and a SSH pickup configuration. On the headstock is written "Spirits of the Live", oh man, only in Japan can they come up with guitar names like that. I bought it on ebay for $185 shipped. The only reason I grabbed it was to try my hand at stripping the poly finish off and putting a nitro finish on otherwise I would not be drawn to this type of guitar. The finishing worked fine and it looks cool now. What i am so amazed at though is the quality of the parts- nice alder body, solid trem, nice Gotoh tuners, and an unbelievable maple on maple neck with med-jumbo frets. Much beefier neck than the Ibanez Jem. I put a pair of Kinman woodstocks in the single positions and a WCR Godwood in the bridge and presto, it's a killer. The guitar unplugged has that sound that you know will sound great through an amp, (the $400 worth of boutique pickups helps but still....). I have a handful of really nice guitars but honestly if someone said I had to go out on tour and could only grab one guitar I think this would be the one. Go figure!

Hey, here's a new thread idea; what's your best ghetto rig?

I clicked "Jazzmaster" but it's really a Koll Tornado, korina body, Gibson scale (24 5/8"), straight string pull with a Jazzmaster tremolo and Harmonic Design VP90 pickups.
