Ok we joked about this before and what the heck lets see what happens.........

The AMWM is a Donnerboxed BJ handbuilt Sky Blue OD - all the same sounds and functions as the MP version, this is just actually built by BJ..... Limited Collectors Edition bragging rights match the rest of your arsenal blah blah blah  ,

if you just want the sounds - get the MP version which should be well rollin soon.......

Its $499

and it will be sold to the person with the best (judged by me) answer to the question :

Why should YOU get to buy it ? 8)

answer that question anyway you like - have fun with it - theres only one winner so the rest is for fun and frivolity and knowing the high quality level of folks we have here -- this could be interesting.... :)

(oh this will run til next friday - March 7th )

The BJFE Aquamarine Wonder Machine, while essentially the same pedal as the mad professor sky blue overdrive, is a pedal I've wanted to add to my ranks ever since I had first learned of its existence(and seen pictures of its glorious custom shop finish). Even with the mad professor pedal being released very soon(at a much lower price), I would love to have a custom aquamarine in my arsenal of pedals.

To begin with, I will state that my numbers aren't too high on bjf custom shop pedals. That being said, it's not for lack of trying. I have, over and over again, put my name in for nearly every raffle that has occurred since I became a member of the bjf forums. Every time a raffle would start, I would tell myself, "self, you could very well win it this time around." Soon after, however, my hopes would be dashed as I would constantly refresh my browser on the night of the drawings only to discover that I had not won the drawing. No matter, I always picked myself up and put in my name for the next drawing.

My first experience with bjf custom shop pedals was the little purple overdrive(Custom sparkling yellow, originally made for teahead). With my old rig(orange ad30htc), this pedal was absolutely amazing. The brightness of the pedal mixed with the overall darkness of my orange was a great combination. Soon after acquiring the LPOD, however, I sold my orange because I wanted a better clean amp. Enter the Dr. Z Maz 38. My new amplifier had incredible cleans, but is itself one of the brightest amps I have ever played. The combination of the LPOD with the Maz 38 was, for lack of better words, bright enough to tear a hole in your eardrums. My newfound love, the LPOD, was no longer to be my go to overdrive and sold shortly after.

Since these events, I'd exchanged emails with donner about an entirely different pedal. His response was that I might very well want to check out the upcoming sky blue overdrive pedal. I'd been anxious to hear any information the SBOD even before talking with donner, but this email exchange peaked my interest to an ever greater extent. I was within a hair of pulling the trigger on one from custom sounds this evening, when I noticed this new thread on the bjf forums. I have instead, decided to once more test my luck(while hopefully putting my essay writing abilities to good use for the first time since my last english class). I've missed out in the past, but I feel this may be my first real chance to attain one of the sought after bjf custom shop pedals.

Why do I deserve the bjf Aquamarine wonder machine? I could easily say because I want it more. This would be a faulty logic since it is not something that can be tested or proven. Any merit I have to deserving one has already been layed out for you to decide. I can only hope that my high school and college English classes have truly prepared me for what could become the single most important essay I may ever write. I submit to you my essay for the aquamarine wonder machine.

why shouldnt I get to buy it?

or how about I liked Aquaman as a kid, have donated to Marine wildlife foundations as a adult, and played guitar the whole time. This pedal will now connect and complete my life. :)

seriously though, interesting idea, this should be fun.

mrpicard wrote:Art Piece One ? Poem for an AquaMarine WonderMachine

Living in this forum is a pedal made for me,
Alas this wonder machine does not come for free.
To be chosen as the owner you must first win a quest,
Do something different and vanquish all the rest.

So I sat sitting quietly planning what I would do,
Contemplating navels for a Donner-boxed Sky Blue.
Finally it hit me in the dark Australian night,
Provide a little poem on how this pedal came to light.

Bjorn was a creator of his first in ?81,
Each BJ pedal captures a little piece of fun.
The list has grown to cover every type of feeling,
So today in his lab you can hear him freewheeling:

?My Baby Blue, is a Daphne Blue, it was a dream I had in my head,
Once off the floor, it rushed out the door, and next was the Dyna Red.
The Little Green, just wanted to scream, built for a certain Don Rusk,
A Honey Bee, just drips from a tree, and is dynamic from dawn to dusk.
The Pink Purple, certainly not hirple, will soothe with a calm kind of fuzz,
Baby Pink, escaped from the sink, and created its own industry buzz.
Blue Berry Bass, with a handful of mace, works on notes sunk way down below,
A big Red Rooster, a rock?n little booster, is perfect for those in the know.
The Emerald Green, is a mean little machine, with followers who live in a tribe,
Add on top, a Mighty Green chop, which makes everyone groove to the vibe.
A bright Candy Apple, with Nature you grapple, to produce an octave or two,
If you get lost, increase the cost, and tame it with an active Sea Blue.
The story may end, and such is the trend, to finish with Pine Green compression,
But from the marine, came a Wonder Machine, to fix everlasting depression.
I decided to meddle, and forge a new pedal, your pleasure for which I do strive,
I changed the name, but it?s still the same, it?s a Sky Blue Overdrive?

Such is the story of the rare AquaMarine
A magic little tale of a WonderMachine,
Choosing the winner was not very hard,
The pedal goes to?.Mr Picard.

:-) :-)

That's all fine and dandy, but why do you deserve the pedal?

it's all good. To be honest, as much as I'd love to have it, I know I'll inevitably end up with at least the sound whether I win or not. I'd just really dig the chance to have a custom shop version as I don't own any at the moment. He's obviously a good writer, so I'm interested to see what changes he makes. Healthy competition is always a good thing.
