CS-40 TUBES

It's time to get some new tubes for my CS-40!
I've heard some good stuff about TAD EL-34B or do you recomend something else?

I've no experience with the CS-40. But if you haven't tried them, JJ makes several EL34 variants worth checking out. Overall, I'd say JJ makes my favorite current production power tubes - very durable. I like the tone of their KT88, 6L6, 6V6. Haven't owned an EL34 amp in years, so I won't comment there beyond suggesting you might give them a try.

The 66s have t he sweetest cleans Ive ever had even better than the blackplate 6l6 I used for years in my BF super ..... they sound maybe closest to the top end you get at low volume with 6v6s, but with full bottom........mmmmmm

That's an unsettling image. "Corpulent" brings to mind the grotesque fat Elvis in his last years, not the lithe Mr. Hendrix. Or perhaps the writer was thinking of Leslie West... now that's some corpulent tone!

i've been using KT66 tubes for years in my RI Marshall Offset Head and they ROCK!...that head really likes pedals too....especially BJF's....i feel the KT66's are far superior to 6L6's in tone and texture...my KT66 head compliments my EL34 head nicely !!!!....the KT66 is cleaner and the EL34 is dirtier...what else do you need ??....maybe a CS40 ???????

Not sure I personally have a favorite ,but have adapted to the sound of the JJ 34s and Im really content.
