OK, I am going to admit it -- I like Tubescreamers!!!! LGW!!

hahahahaha.....

One of the first "professional" effects boxes that I bought when I was 16 was a brand new Ibanez TS-808 Tubescreamer, from Werlein's Music in New Orleans when I was in high school. It cost $40 plus tax in 1980 8)

And I loved it -- no matter what I plugged into, with my SG I could get my "Angus" sound

but then, look what my very nice postal person brought me today:

LGW (properly packed, and in original box with papers)

and a beautiful piece of fabric......is this from Eva?

Tone report later today -- I must attend to my daughter's school recital for a few hours, so I must put the guitar down and turn the internet off.

ummmm.....after some serious tone testing at casa bobby d, the LGW has emerged as the WINNER for me between the EGDM and LGW.

the EGDM is seriously good TOO....makes me want BOTH......but I cannot have all of them, as much as I would like to......money and board space are both limited :D

REALLY liking the LGW, and I think it is gonna mate REALLY well with the Soldano -- so the EGDM may have to go to a new home, even after the saga of receiving it...luckily it is 100% ok now, and sounds great, so no worries. And I will pack it to a MUCH higher standard than when it arrived here 8)

I like tubesreamers too! That was my very first pedal. I still have it. One of these days, I'm going to have Analogman optimize it. So yeah, you're not alone.

Funny thing about the LGW -- and I am sure the MP version of it as well -- it does the tubescreamer type thing VERY well, but without the "midhump" tone robbing thing.......and it HAS more on tap than a ts-808. AND it sparkles with some shimmering high end that I like, and need.......

I like this better than any TS variant I have ever owned, including 3 landgraff DOs that were all really good.....various vintage TS-808s and TS-9s.......better than any of the newer TS klones out there from dozens of other makers I have tried. there is something REALLY cool about this, and I thought I would regret buying it.....but I was WRONG.....I am COMPLETELY happy finding this one.

Gotta hear it at full stage volume, but I have my practice amp (small marshall 1x10 celestion loaded cab with 15 watt small Marshall head -- looks like the microstack, but not on the inside).

I can get a pretty good idea of my stage work from being home at practice......so I think this is really going to be a winner at the gigs.

And the MP version of this is really quite affordable, compared to the plethora of expensive TS-klones out there....I like the MP line a LOT, since they are BJ designed and built by beautiful blonde women in finland -- what's not to like????

have you tried the CAF into the LGW ???? yum and of course the octave setting with fuzz reduced ~~~~

but yeah the LGW is just right for the Soldano as it has plenty of its own compression....

AND you can change opamps too if you like (the LGW is the only one that does this --- so dont go looking in the DRD for an op socket  )

oh YES!!!!!!!!

the CAF into the LGW, with the right setting of the nature knob at about 11:58 or so -- provides me with EXACTLY the sound I like!

Luckily, my Soldano ROS is not the high gain SLO type amp -- it is just two channels of the SLO in a combo, and it has plenty of headroom and a BIG DEEP sound that works GREAT with my strat, with only a guitar cord in between.

So the pedals become the icing on the cake 8)

But I am REALLY blown away by how good the BJF and MP effects are......really, really impressed.

they are the BEST tonal decision I have made in years, and BJ has given me so much inspiration, both verbal and design-wise, that it has helped my playing and music bloom again. Bj says I must repay him by having herrings and schnapps at his house one day in the future. And I told him that is a promise I will keep -- one day, Bjorn and I will sit down, talk tone, and drink schnapps until we are both satisfied
