Well, I finally got the CAF. It was perfect timing. I just graduated from IU with my masters and literally the last day before I moved to St. Louis, the CAF arrived in the mail. I was worried it would get stuck/delayed in the mail forwarding process or worse yet, returned. Anyway, I already had my stuff packed up, but once I got to The Lou yesterday and had all the boxes and furniture inside, I broke it out and played it. Well worth the wait! Such an awesome fuzz. It just screams. To me, I would just describe it as a ballsy rock n roll fuzz. If it was a drink, I think it would be a shot of Jack.

Thanks Donner! I'm over in Soulard near 1860 Hardshell Cafe and Hammerstones. I'm liking the area except the lack of a good grocery store nearby, but I work downtown so the commute can't be beat.

Anyway, I LOVE THE CAF. It may be my favorite BJF pedal. It is just so rich and ballsy. It just sounds like rock n roll should sound in my opinion. I'm using it through a Germino Club 40 and it just absolutely rocks!

Which guitar shops around here are worth checking out? I've been to Eddies and Killer Vintage.

Thanks Donner! I'm over in Soulard near 1860 Hardshell Cafe and Hammerstones. I'm liking the area except the lack of a good grocery store nearby, but I work downtown so the commute can't be beat.

You could try the Soulard Farmer's Market. I believe it's the oldest continuously-operating Farmer's Market in the country, since 1760 I think. STL was still a French colony at that time. Also, don't forget to see my friend Billy Barnett play at 1860's on a Tuesday night. As far as I'm concerned, he's the best guitarist in STL. Has a huge pedal board, too ... lotsa Way Huge stuff.

IMO, the best guitar shop in STL is J. Gravity strings. It's also closest to you ... you could actually walk there from where you live.

Fazio's Frets-n-Friends is worth checking out in West County. McMurray Music up on Page was a decent one, too ... although I think they've gone corporate since I've left the area...but still may be worth a look.

I've also had good experience with Dave at Killer Vintage.

Eddie's no doubt has the biggest "boutique" selection, but I am personally NOT a fan of that store. Those guys can be quite unfriendly in there. If I wanted something "new" and boutique, I'd just order it from Make 'n Music in Chicago.

Anyway, YMMV...those are my experiences from the time I lived there.

Thanks Doc! That's good stuff. I agree with the vibe at Eddie's compared to Maken Music. There's one guy at Eddie's that is normal/friendly and the rest seem a bit snobbish. I haven't made it over to see Billy Barnett yet but it's on my list!

Wow, EJ we will have to hook up - Old friend of mine Steve Pecaro plays at 1860 alot , and I havent been down there in too long ... ditto everything Doc said ( except St. Louis was founded in 1764 )
Eddie is actually a really nice down to earth guy - its his son thats a bit 'distant', but thats a whole other story.....

Eddies used to be Metro , thats where I met Killer Vintage Dave and I also used to get used Way Huge pedals for under a $100 bucks there after Guitar Center moved in they had to go upscale and did the Boutique boogie and changed the name to Eddies.....

But yeah Gravity is worth getting to know - Jimmy has Aquapuss #001 and they do excellent guitar work there and you may even see a few famous faces there occaisionally , and Billy Barnett works there and gives lessons too .....

Amazing that Way Huge stuff was once-upon-a-time so cheap.

I heard a lot of great things about Steve Pecaro while I was living down there, but never did get a chance to see him play.

Wow, I just scored a CAF from Custom Sounds. They had one in stock. Cool. I have to admit $344 total is pretty pricey, but hopefully it'll be worth it. Sounds like you guys all really dig it. I'll post my thoughts after I receive it.
