I was curious what everyone was using for tremelo pedal now and why you like it? or do you use amp trem, or none at all?

and please feel free to share any really good or bad experiences with trems in the past that you dont use or have anymore.

4ms custom Tremulus Lune/Stereo Panneur/Phasseur w/extra LFo
BYoC basic Trem lune clone
Demeter Tremulator
Empress Tremolo
Boss TR-2
Diamond Vibrato [similarish]

the TR-2 and BYoC trems and tremulator are good for situations where i don't need the to carry my best gear.. the BYoC i've used for some recordings while still in school.
the tremulator is trusty small and no-frills, no-nonsense.. i tend to favor it.

my custom 4ms is 3-4 pedals in one.. and thus too massive to take out of my apt.

Empress Tremolo
&
Diamond Vibrato will both remain on my main board, when i set it up.

I may buy another 4ms... but a tiny itty bitty tremulus lune.


Since Diamond is officially a true vibrato, i'll disqualify it.

Empress Tremolo & 4ms Tremulus Lune are my top picks.

Empress has tap tempo
& 4ms is arguably the best sounding trem out there.

Pretty limited trem experience here -- I've have / have had the MP MYT, BJF SYT, and the trem function in the Victoria Revererato (which is technically a vibe I guess, but it doesn't sound like a vibe). Anyway, I like them all, but the Reverberato and the hands down winner. Deep and organic. Just wonderful sounding.

I've had a semaphore and a vibutron in the past--liked both of them, sold both of them once i tasted my fender's trem.

but i'm kinda gassing for a cusack or the empress now, haha. evidently i need tap tempo in EVERYTHING now... sigh.

I had my cowtipper 45 built with trem it and it sounds AWESOME. He takes a vintage trem unit from an old fender and uses that.

With the awesomeness of pedals being made today in such variety I am quite happy with fender like pure cleans of the non master volume bruno (or most fender amps really, I just like that flavor the best) with a pedalboard.

I use an empress. It does a good job of choppy and smooth, has a nice range on all the controls, seems pretty pristinely clean to me, and the rhythms, tap tempo, and two speed modes all just sweeten the deal.

But, I wish it was smaller and had some LFO waveshaping, so I keep thinking a semaphor trem would be nice. I might throw together a 4ms tremulous lune instead one day though.

Not much experience with other trems though, I love the empress enough that I haven't wanted anything else enough to bother.

hah, thats an interesting thread! I've been looking for a good tremolo for quite some time now.
i had the CAE super tremolo rack unit and thats got to be the one i was most happy with. but then i decided to quit all the rack gear and sold it.
eversince i've tried the
-Fulltone (didnt like the volume boost)
-Diaz (didnt like the volume drop, plus there was pulsating noise even with the unit off),
-Kaden Fluttertone (very lush and organic, and a vol. control but i sold it in order to get the:
-Empress (high expectations , but too many features i dont need, too much space on my pedalboard, and VERY sterile sounding to me. but my main concern: i was hoping for the tap-tempo option to achieve some extreme chopping sounds in time with the song's tempo.have You heard mike landau on The Ragin Honkie's aLbum "Boner"?? but that effect sounds best with triplets, and the empress only delivers 1:1, 1:2 or 1:4....so i found myself trying to tap triplets during songs
-now i'm planning to get a black cat BFD. has anyone tried that one?

thanks for all the replies,,ive never used an amp with trem so its always been a pedal search. wanted to be sure I wasnt forgetting about any.

I had a old diaz which I liked, small, choppy and 2 speed. and a cusack that I just couldnt bond with for some reason or another(i do love those soft switches)

I also had a Powerglide that I let go for my upcoming stereo version which I hope is as good, you could not tell it was a pedal at all.

The MP MYT is serving me well but I wish there was a 2 stomp/speed version.

The empress and 4ms have caught my eye,,i like to have options
