PGC vs FGC

Hey guys -

I've been waiting to get one of these for a while. Unfortunately there aren't very many clips or demos available of them.

Has anyone played both? My gut instinct says the BJF version would sound better. But the "sustainer" mode on the FGC has my mouth watering. I use a Barber Tone Press for this same purpose, but I think it kills some of my high end.

Can anyone compare the two?

They are very similar except for the sustainer mode,
I havent played one yet, but yes that feature is something I would likley use most of the time !!!

side by side it seems the body knob on the bjf version has more variation than what the tone knob does on the FGC, which seems a bit more standard of a control. The body knob on the PGC has more noticeable eq jumps and alot of different sweet spots, the FGC tone knob is gradually consistent.
there is something in the PGC that I cant seem to get out of the FGC, hard to describe but a certain clarity that really sparkles thru.
on the other hand the PGC is not going to do the sustain mode of the FGC.
overall the comprssion seems very close.
very hard choice to pick one as I dont think one is better than the other, maybe one just suited better for other styles of music
I almost sold my FGC, very happy that I did not. It would be nice to use both modes at once though.....
only solution i see is petition for more deluxe comp/sustainers.

..........Yes it would!!....put me down for one !!!...i find it hard to choose one over the other, so i kept both for different styles of play....well stated Cabo !!

I have had both. I have not been able to get more sustain out of the "sustain" setting than the comp setting. So far, after a couple of gigs with the FGC, I am using the comp setting because it seems to sustain better and have more squish. The sus. mode is more open , but the volume on it is harder to control. I am still trying to figure this thing out.

i was messing around with these a bit more today....

the sustain setting seems more like a great buffered boost, with some compression still there.
even with level all the way down, and comp all the way down, it was still pushing my signal thru. Mostly adding back alot of lost harmonic content thats already there but covered up sounding without it.

Im finding the sustain more sustainy after drives,will sing for days after a modelR ,before them its seems to have more of a boost effect and not anymore noticeable sustain.

with it on compression setting, and level down and comp down, there is no sound at all,,,there is a noticeable volume difference between the two settings with sustain being much louder at same given level and comp settings. Im fairly certain the vol difference was addressed on the deluxe model.

Both setting seem to sustain real well after dirt/fuzz, with sustain mode bieng more open and way less compressed as Frosty put it.

I gave the FGC a try running it after my overdrive (mojodrive) and yes, it does give out more sustain and harmonics in the sustain mode. I would recommend that to anyone using an overdrive . It opened up a whole array of different tonal possibilities. I like it much better than I did before.
