It resides here in my little home studio on the east coast.

Hi,

Ah, the LOW.......there were only two of that specific circuit ever made and the other one is candy red and it's of course COW.

this the LOW was the first one made and it was a custom thing of a distortion with a peculiar Voice control only ever used on the LOW and the COW.

Ah, it's a Fox ;) hehehe.

I am happy to hear that it resides in a happy home

Have fun

This peculiar Honey Bee was once ordered through Tonefactor and it is one of a pair, the other half being a BBOD made just the same way. There were no modifications done to either circuits. It's just that the guy who ordered these two really wanted the DC-inlet on top of the pedal and this made layout of controls a little different and as all circurty had to be put lower down in the box which made no room for battery, but the the original customer told he never used batteries anyway but it was essential that the DC inlet would be on top at all costs.
This Honey Bee is the only one made this way as is the BBOD that was ordered at the same time the only BBOD made this way.

As might be evident the original owner's first name is Sonny.

Have fun

Would that Sonny happen to be Sonny Landreth?

Sonny Landreth??????

finest slide player IN THE WORLD< and I will stand on Derek Trucks coffee table and say that to him.

"South of I-10" is the BEST Louisiana record I have ever heard, and I lived/went to high school/and did my first pro gigs there in New Orleans....Jimmys....Tipitinas...Bourbon Street.....olde Man Rivers..etc.

was that really Landreth's pedal????

Between Sonny and Brian Stoltz, they are two of the finest of Louisiana flavor music.....

That'd be like the Pope jumping on Jesus' coffee table and saying God is better than you Jesus. They're both incredible players with a different voice to their slides, but I'm sure Derek could play just about anything Sonny can play and vice versa. While I think Sonny plays live/records more technically complicated things, I tend to like Derek's slide voice a little better, but I definitely do understand why many other people like Sonny better! I would sell my soul and one of my nuts for either of their skills...... but I would not sell both of my nuts for both of their skills.

As for the New Orleans stuff, that's awesome Bobby D!!!! I love New Orleans, live there now, it's such a freaking great music city. Can pretty much find good live music any hour of the day or the night, can't beat a scene like that. Sometimes it's crazy when there's so much good music, you can see people like Russel Baptiste playing to 8 people or Leo Necontelli, Walter Wolfman, Porter, and a couple of the Nevilles playing together to just 50 people! Guess people can only go to so many shows in one day/night, so that happens here. I love Stoltz playing as well!!! Saw him 3 times in October :) ................. and I love Tip's, such a fun music venue! You ever play the Maple Leaf? Another great dirty New Orleans venue. Give me a shout if you're ever back in the Big Easy!

YEAH YOU RIGHT!!!!!

Like I told you in pm/email, I went to high school on the Westbank (the best bank), and did my first "pro" gigs in NOLA.

Now, I love Derek...don't get me wrong here. But I met him when he was 12, so in some ways, he's still a kid to me. And I love his style, but it ISN'T Louisiana style....it's his own blend of Duane Allman and Nusrat Ali Khan or something. He's very lyrical and very soulful, and I love him to death. Plus, he married the woman of my dreams, Susan Tedeschi (I MET HER FIRST!!!!)

But Sonny Landreth is in another league....as a songwriter, as a lyricist, and as possibly the best slide player alive. His music BREATHES Louisiana....I remember asking Brian Stoltz if he had "stolen any licks on slide from Sonny"...

He laughed at me and said "how do you know it wasn't SONNY stealing LICKS from ME???"

Actually, if you have heard BRIAN pull out his slide and do HIS thing, he doesn't exactly suck at playing slide either. And it has elements of that same style Sonny plays....

I have to say though....when it comes to a full package of songs, voice, talent, and that special something.....Sonny Landreth has it in spades. Maybe you have to have LIVED in Louisiana to smell the difference...or feel it......but "South of I-10" is my favorite Louisiana record EVER, right behind the Meters, Neville Bros, Porter/Batiste/Stoltz, and Brians solo stuff.......which is FANTASTIC as well, and much "funkier" than Sonny.

It takes a lot of flavors to make a good gumbo 8)

I hear you, that New Orleans flavor sure is delicious!!! Sounds like I need to turn on my stereo and spend some more quality time with Sonny recordings. :) Also, there's a new PBS album out called MooDoo, it's super funky good!!!! Paige from Phish plays on it some as well.

yep!

got MOODOO in my Zune player, and it's DAMN GOOD.

by the way, thru the graciousness of BJ and Harri, Brian now has a SWAW instead of that nasty sounding Boss Dynamic Filter he was using.

his tone just got funkier quite a bit 8) 8) 8)
