i LOVE that purple 2x12 cab -- that amp looks GREAT, and i bet it sounds good too.
I would love to build an amp someday, i sure did mod and "italian engineer" some amps when i was a kid, because i could not afford a good one....
nice work on that one!!!!

Thanks for the kind words, Bobby D! "Italian engineering"... Hmmm... That's some funny stuff! I bet if you bought a kit, you could "italian engineer" the everlovin' hell out of it, & have something very cool when you finished!
BTW, I bought my kit as part of a group buy with about fifteen others, so it was significantly cheaper. Ceriatone will discount on group buys, but I wasn't the guy that put it together. At first it was gonna be all one type kit for everyone, (Wreck) then it opened up for any kit, so that's when I jumped on board...

well, i am half italian myself, with the other half being cherokee indian 8)

and that's how my mom used to refer to some of my Dad's Rube Goldberg like contraptions -- no matter WHAT it was, my Dad could fix it.....but it would be slightly off-kilter, ala "italian engineering" -- no offense to any italians out there and especially not your wife!!!! :D

What? I likes meatballs! Swedish or Italian engineered!
Lutefisk? Not so much...
I don't think "Italian engineering" would help!

well, to my father's defense, when we were building our Heathkits and electronics stuff, that was done to a pretty high degree -- I was soldering pretty good by the age of 12

You get good fast when you get "that look" from your Dad every time he sees a dodgy solder joint!

But when he would fix something around the house.....here in the USA, we call them "honey-do's".....you know, that list of stuff your wife wants fixed around the house???

I have seen my Dad rig some contraptions that still make me laugh to this day. And they woudl always "work"..well...sort of. But they weren't "broken" any more

THAT was my father's version of the "italian engineering" -- only said with LOVE :)

Holy moly!! I just played the Cobralux thru an Austin Speaker Works KTS-70, loaded into a Port City 1x12 OS cab, that I borrowed from a friend, & I'm really impressed!
What a kickazz combination!
The ASW KTS-70 is like a high power (80 watts) greenback, but better, & the Port City 1x12 OS cab puts out some big low end without being boomy... I gotta try the speaker in my Z-28 combo next!

Hey Cobra,

Glad to hear the amp is continuing to give you tone surprises!
Also, thanks for the info about the parts.

Cheers

I'm hoping I just found the last piece of the Cobraluxe sonic puzzle! I ended up trading for a 30watt Scumback H75-16, which just arrived, to be paired up with a 25watt Scumback M75-LHDC-16 in the 2x12 below. Basically a pre-Rola greenback and a pre-Rola G12H30, with one small difference: The M75-LHDC-16 has a larger G12-65 dustcap to smooth some of the highs... Since the cab load is 8ohms, it'll also be a perfect test bed for...
The LouderAndMore!!!
WOOHOO!!!
Tone party tonight!
