Hm, well this model H is a prototype and also an experiment to see if a specific function and behaviour could be made. Big thanks to Jamie for the recorded material that was inspirational. This one proved to be extra hard as there would be so many parameters and I was at first not sure what would be paramount.

As a model, this may come but not right away. I have many things on the stove and as the BJF line is somewhat diminishing I'm thinking of possible new models.

This may be one of BJs best Tone controls too - nobody gets more out of a tone control than Bjorn...
This is a new one - it sort of controls the upper mids - that sort of signature celestion/fane freq ..... what it sounds like to me is if youve ever tried to mic a speaker cab... this sounds lie at one end the mic is about 10 feet away and then as you roll it up the mic is brought closer and its sounds more immidate and punchy ....... really tasty and chunky

Well I was lucky enough to have the H on loan for a few days. Thank you sir. Here is a pic too.




This one was a nice surprise. First I did try the H in comparison to the HB>BBOD(hiwatt stack) stack. Definately gets close, only with some minor differences. Seemed to be more comparable at higher drive settings.
Also in trying to find a comparison, I found the RRB>LGW close, But nothing resembles the way the Tone knob on the Model H acts.
As far as Model types go, the R has way more gain, and the H seems alot less picky and is in the overdrive area instead of distortion.

With the Vol @9, D @12, the change in the Tone knob was very noticable.
Seemed more sublte at higher levels. Very unique as it does seem to raise a level of mid range section without adding overall volume and drive. Although the drive sounds more in your face. Overall it has a sweet eq, very well rounded.

As far as backburners, hopefully this one gets moved to the front.
Side by side I dont know if I like this one better than the Sparkling Yellow, It does have a little heavier, bassier side to it , but sometimes I need/want more treble which the Yellow gives. Also the H's Tone knob makes it pretty versitle and useful,,,it should come as a standard large knob when it comes out!

OK. After spending some time with the Model H (thanks BJ and Donner!), I had to write...

For me, this pedal is a must have. I think Bjorn has really captured something special here. I usually run my amp at the edge of breakup and found that the H had huge amount of gain actually. They don't call them Hiwatts for nuthin'!

There is also a very special interaction with Fane speakers and the old Hiwatt Cabs that Bjorn has dialed into the H. IMHO, the one thing that Hiwatts do better than any other amp is the ability to sound almost like an energized acoustic when you roll back your guitar's volume knob. This is where the magic is to me. Just listen to Live at Leeds and you'll know what I mean!

The Model H captures this tone extremely well. If you set the pedal and roll your guitar volume back you have a beautiful, chimey, sparkling sound. Roll it back up and it screams for you. The treble stays intact the whole way. If you try this pedal, you must play with your volume knob in order to hear all it has to offer.

The only caveat for me is that this pedal seemed to be MUCH louder and have much more gain than my other BJF Dist/overdrive/fuzz pedals on similar knob settings. Even with my Tele, I couldn't dial in a slight breakup sound on the H without pulling back my guitar's volume knob.

Bjorn, my hope is that if you release the H that you will reset the volume and gain so that the chimey sounds can occur early on the knobs. This way you can get that energized acoustic tone by setting the knobs low (without rolling back your guitar) or by setting the knobs high (with rolling back your guitar). Another way to do this might be to keep the volume and gain knobs where they are but add a fourth knob to control the guitar's input level. This could also help in stacking. Just a thought from a guy who knows nothing about making pedals!!

By the way, I found a KILLER stack by running the H into my PPF. WOW what a beautiful singing lead tone! No matter what, I will order one of these beauties as soon as they are out. Let's all start the petition now!

This is a special pedal, kids. I've played it, but haven't commented on it as I don't want to get everybody all riled up about it because I don't know what its future (if any) is.

But it IS a special pedal. Wow. Just, wow.

So I got to try the Model H, I think just because I happen to have a Hiwatt I must echo many of Jkoeth's sentiments, rolling off the volume knob on the guitar with the H's gain knob maxed is truly a treat, one of the coolest OD tones out there and I haven't heard any other pedal do it the same. Rolling the vol pot up then activates that Hiwatt/Fane interaction like JKoeth wrote... to be honest I preferred this pedal through my Fender(which makes some sense since I believe Bjorn does much of his tuning with a Musicman amp), it did actually sound like my Hiwatt maxed(not something I do regularly!) but at lower levels- whereas through the Hiwatt it could be a little congested in the midrange. Too much of a good thing perhaps? In any case I wish I had an old Univox Superfuzz around to stack into this thing...

A word on the volume, again I agree with JK that it gets LOUD EARLY. Again, like a Hiwatt It might be a little friendlier if there was little more knob travel before getting to amp-blowing-up status(I know, where's the fun in that!). But that's no dealbreaker, I still want one!
