Yes. There are 7 vertical slits in the front baffle that work as sort of acoustic Fresnell lens and provide some treble dispersion in horizontal plane. The advantage vs beam blockers is that you get wider treble coverage without loss of SPL. Curved shape is a design aesthetics detail primarily. Grill cloth is a semi custom job from "Acoustone", it's acoustically transparent.

The cab is made of 15mm (ca 9/16") birch plywood from replanted forest.

Excellent - sounds like it would have a more even sound in a room --- do you think it would be easier or harder or just different to mic in a recording situation ??

This depends on recording situation. Live, studio, dead room, lively room, close or distant mike, mix in ambience mike and so on. I think it can be less critical re close mike position due to more even high end dispersion but you may need to pay more attention to ambience mike in a lively reverberant room. On the other hand, the dispersive baffle is easily removable so you can use your proven recording set up.

But hey, I'm into live recording with just two mikes and a 30 years old two track Revox tape recorder but had no time for this for a few years now. Would love to skip the tape and do a direct to vinyl live cut some day.

Answer to the question which was first is obvious. The chicken head. But we won't have any of those ridiculous small heads with over sized beaks. Not safe for children.
