RRB into Drive

Ive always loved how the RRB when pushed into a drive just gives it a more soud - it has just t he right amount of extra treble sizzle to keep the extra gain achieved from going muddy....
works really with with the DRd , EGDM and HB

This very stack concept literally saved my tone this past week. My Guytron went down and had to be sent out for repairs. In the meantime, I was given a loaner amp that I absolutely HATE. (Although it was *extremely* kind of the people to loan me the amp, or I would have had nothing!) The lead channel is unuseable, and the clean channel took me an hour to find anything even tolerable.

BJF to the rescue!!! Normally I would put booster last in the pedal chain. With this set-up, though, I put my BJF Amber last, with RRB feeding into it. I am able to use the volume knob on Amber to limit how much overall signal hits the front end of the amp so that there isn't too great a volume jump.

Amber by itself set with Volume at 11:00, Treble at 9:00, and Drive at 5:00 yields a great classic rock overdrive. Then I feed RRB into Amber with RRB set to about 3:00 ( ). This yields a great hi-gain guitar hero tone without too much of a volume jump on the front end of the amp. And the hi-gain tone I get from doing this with the pedals is FAR superior to what the amplifier's lame lead channel could ever produce.

SO ... if you ever get stuck with a crap amp like I did, just do this. It will solve many problems for you. I would imagine that this type of stack would translate well to use with the other BJF drives, such as RRB>LGW, RRB>DRD, RRB>BBOD, RRB>HBOD, etc. You get the idea....

Currently I am running a Red Rooster into a Honey Bee into a Sea Blue EQ with nice results. Its my 1-2-3 into a nice chimy overdrive.
My amp is at a good clean sound. To taste some boost, SBEQ gets into the mix first. 10-11-1. Then for a tasty rhythm, HB is hit. 12:30-11-9.
To solo or push it, here comes the rooster at 9 o clock. Almost turns my single channel into a triple. Very nice indeed!

The RRBs effect is different before and after a drive -- so I like to run it between two drives and when you switch between the drives the RRB stays on giving a dynamic change too ----

so you could have the RRB on after a drive for good chunky rhythym sound and before another to make it sing and increase harmonic activity for solos... or vice versa if you wanted a saturated rhythym tone and then an articulate lead sound.....

you can do this easily by putting the two drives next to each other on the lower level of the board and the RRB which stays on up on the higher level ~ and stomp both drives to change sounds......

VERY COOL, DONNER!!! I never thought of that. I'll have to try that some time, if I ever end up getting a 2nd drive pedal....

What I usually do is run Guitar>DAOD>RRB>Guytron. Between the shades of OD/Dist. available from the amp and how it all combines with those two BJF's, I think I have just about all my different drive needs covered. Great stuff!!!

I'll have to try the RRB that way....kind of been putting it aside while I figure out how I want to use it with my rig.

I was trying to use it after my drives (HB, EGDM) to see how it would do
in the place (literally, perhaps not sonically) of the Klon - but it was just
too darn loud..

I also have a Carb I've been using to egg on the drives,
and that's worked pretty well (has a nice efervescent sheen for the countryish stuff) - but I'd like to go with more BJF - they just sound good
together!

yeah alot will depend on how your running your amp.... if its loud and low compression the RRB might be too much after your drives ---- the RRB is really nice to set your amp right below the sweet spot and use that for nice cleans and then push it over with the RRB.........


I also think just clean the RRB is perfect with a Tele bridge pickup for a 'more' stomp has a similar EQ and harmonic balance......

The RRB is easily one of my favorite BJFs. With my Tele and Tophat Club Royale, it sounds HUGE!!!!!!

Yeah, it all depends on how you set your amp. When I first got it, I was setting my amp a little too clean to feel the RRB's magic. At the edge of breakup is where it's at!
