question about knobs on BJF pedals

Postby huckleboogie » Mon Jun 23, 2008 8:45 am

Hi Bjorn,

can You tell me the brand /name of the knobs used on BJF pedals? i got 2 MP pedals now and my only concern are the bigger white knobs...really prefer the BJF knobs. i already switched the knobs of my MP LGW with the ones on my HBOD (which is not on my board at the moment) because the MP knobs turn too easy and change settings in live situations...i'd like to replace them all with the little black ones.

thx, i know there are more important topics and questions here, but help would still be appreciated :-)
take care, Lars

I totally agree, the MP knobs are not nearly as foot friendly as the BJF knobs. If it would be possible to order some BJF style knobs, that would be cool!

true, Eskimo Joe, for me the BJF knobs are just more stage-friendly...i keep accidently changin the setting on the MPs-especially the one close to the switch.

Blobcaster, are You sure?
i switched knobs successfully between my BJF honeybee and MP LGW.....they dont fit perfectly, true, but after tightening the screws it works almost perfect....

the LGW was a BJF model and I think it uses all the same size pots.....

all particular pot values arent always carried by all makers....

so on some pedals there are pots with a slightly larger shaft.....

this is true on the customshoppers as well, sometimes two of the knobs will take the bjf knob and one wont so it has to go to what all three will use

http://www.smallbearelec.com has a good selection of knobs if you want to redecorate

if its just t he moving around, you can loosen the screw and push the knob all the way down then rescrew it so its much tougher to bump .........or even take the knobs off and put a black dot on the top of the shaft ,for a marker....

thanks for your help, Donner!
i think it's the "Davies Clones" i'm lookin for here....i will order some of those.
i wouldnt dare to mess with the pots. our bass player put duct tape on the LED of my DRD one nite before the first set and switched it on, so i started the first song (which was supposed to be super clean funky rhythm guitar) with a nice Marshall sound! we had a good laugh , but when attaching the tape, he pushed the LED down inside the pedal. its still workin but.....so pushing down or changing anything kinda scares me:-)
i'll be fine with those knobs. and wow, what a variety of colors available!
cheers, Lars

heee heee arent band practical jokes so funny !!!

oh you can fix the led problem pretty easily,,, just take the back off and pull the black packeage out which should expose the led and just push it right back in there,,, you can use a very small screw driver between the leads if needed or even just a guitar pick to push it up....... both work.

the pots used in the BJF stuff are slightly smaller than whats n most other pedals as are the knobs...

so all the Small Bear knobs will fit on BJF pedals just not the other way around....

thank you, Donner!
i will try to fix the LED problem one of these days. funny I almost sold the DRD a while ago and now it becomes one of my favourite BJFs. i'm happy i kept it.
as for the practical jokes, there's a long list, hehe....and it goes back and forth between our bass player and me. once i put the snow white fuzz in his signal chain without him knowing it. sounded great btw!
