I am pretty sure I will eventually get banned from these competitions because of all the disk and thread space I always take up. However, I am going down fighting. Before the banning I have to get a Cliff Hanger and a Snow White Fuzz...

Well, the contest says "Whats the best/worst cliff hanger you've ever seen on a show ???". However, Donner has already stated "but after I really thought about it yup 'Who shot JR' is the definitive TV Cliff Hanger'. Therefore, I figured that the "best" one had already been resolved by Donner. I mean, there can't be two "bests"... As for the absolute worse ever it has to be a 1993 episode of Shortland Street where it was so badly edited that the cliff hanger was supposed to be very, very sad but it ended up being funny, which was not what was intended and it ruined the flow of the next stories for quite a while. However, Shortland Street is a New Zealand only TV show so unfortunately I would imagine not many of the non-NZ people in this forum would have seen it. I mean, it is not only the USA and the UK that can produce crappy TV shows and awful cliff hangers For example, I am sure that BJ would say that ""Fyra för tre, En" was a terrible TV show but how would anyone outside of Sweden know

THE CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS
Perhaps the most significant cliffhanger of our times, besides the pedal. The resolution being highly memorable because WWIII was avoided or at least postponed.

I am entering this as the most memorable cliffhanger resolution with amazing twists, turns, back channel negotiations, nail biting, pulling out hair, and pure anxiety. Almost musical in terms of a real situation with the building up ofTension & Release. Like a great symphony. YES?

President Kennedy ordered a naval blockade of Cuba. Russian ships, presumeably carrying cargo that would allow the missiles to become operational, continued to approach Cuba. The tension and cliffhangerness was of epic proportions. Kennedy and Khrushchev dangerously dialogued through telegrams and clandestine meetings. This was something of " a mexican standoff"-two people, eye to eye, one with an Uzi and one with an AK47.…the cliffhanger resolution was that the Soviet ships turned around. The headlines read that the Soviets blinked. The confrontation could have been the start of the third world war and might be considered the most dangerous time of our lives before now...

Yes I think most people forget why there is a blockade of Cuba still ---- funny, Castro outlasted the Soviet Union --- and the 'Cold War' was actually one of the most peaceful times in our history
