Anyone downsizing?

Postby Eskimo_Joe » Wed May 07, 2008 6:48 pm

I saw a great cover band last Saturday and the lead guitarist absolutely killed it with a really sparse set up. I've always known that I've taken pedals to the extreme, but I walked away inspired to downsize (that doesn't mean liquidate). :) Anyway, I'm running one OD, a wah, one distortion, and one fuzz. Tone is better with less cable length between the guitar and the amp and it makes the pedals I am using all the more interesting. Anybody relate?

Right now i am running 2 OD's, 1 fuzz, 1 delay, and sometimes a wah. I feel as though too many pedals distracts me from my playing, so i try to keep it simple. it helps that i am not really a fan of trem or vibe though :D . What od's/distortions/fuzzes are you running?

I had a similar change of perspective recently. Other than a compressor that is always on (and I'd survive without it), I have a fuzz, clean boost, and OD.

It sure wasn't easy to not leave a filter on there though.

I have found that I use pedals alot more when Im writing new songs or trying to create somethig new or copy something Ive heard - thats when having lots of options is inspiring and even justifiable as they kind of substitute for band members and an audience to bounce off of...... If your actually playing in a cookin band in front of an appreciative audience thats almost a different planet with a forward motion of its own , no boster rockets needed 8)

so I think the situation dictates the need for additional flavors and colors

Yep, for awhile it's been wah, fuzz, envelope filter, dirt, delay. I'm really digging it too. Liberated and clean. Cheers for simplification!

ive downsized on the dirts alot. I have 1 fuzz and 1 distortion pedal and that is it.
the rest I consider textural extras which I love to have around if needed.
mainly wah,vcf,phaser,minivbe,delay.
downsized from a pro to a jr and love the simplicity and it much easier going on the back.
