Sparkling Orange vs Sparkling Yellow

I'll piggy back upon what others have said here. I've been mostly offline for the last couple months, but should be back online (checking in with more regularity) hopefully pretty soon.

That said, I did get a chance to try the SOOD myself. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to gig with it ... so I can't comment on how it fares in a live mix as compared to the SYOD (of which I have the Amber prototype).

I agree with much of what's been said here, that the SOOD is likely a more versatile "stand alone" OD that many would prefer if they could only pick one.

However, the SYOD has a uniqueness to its voicing that is very different from any other OD I've tried. In a band mix, it is indeed most impressive as it cuts through in a most pleasing way like none other.

I personally wouldn't make the change either. I really like the way my OD cuts through the band mix. I really do think the SOOD is an excellent pedal, and I'd likely by one if I didn't already have my SYOD/Amber. If I could choose, though, I'd pick the original Yellow circuit.

Hey Donner, I was wondering if you had an update on the SYOD and the SOOD? I have been looking for something with a bit more bite and have been trying to purchase a SYOD and SOOD, with no luck at all Will there be another release of these? Thanks

Yeah its still being worked on, other irons in the fire too..... as it turned out there is only one SOOD.... but I think youll like the next version --- they are all useful.......

That is good. The SYOD sounded pretty interesting from the reviews. One combination I am trying at the moment is an Epiphone Casino into a '64 Fender Bassman. The Casino into this amp is kind of dark and mellow so I am looking for a distortion pedal that when engaged brightens up this combination and adds distortion with lots of "bite" when the pedal is engaged. The existing BJF distortion pedals don't quite have the bite/treble I am looking for so the SYOD or SOOD could fit the bill.

Excellent. I don't know how you are selling the next batch of SYODs but if I manage to buy one I will let you know how it works with the above equipment. The current owners hold onto them as if their life depends on it

Yeah remember this is the R and D clubhouse I wish we had pedals for everyones wants, and even tho we talk alot aobut these things here, they dont even really exist in the big ole pedal world,,,, but the point is to develop some new problem solvers and once all the bugs are definitly out they could easily become part of the regular BJF line or even MP pedals and available thru regular channels
