Yes, the DBD is digital in that the delay mechanism / repeat generator itself is digital. But the signal path is analog, and there is no conversion being done to the dry guitar signal (whereas other digital delays convert the whole thing).
So what you get is the performance and clarity of digital (the good stuff) without the sterility typically associated with digital delays (the bad stuff). The tone retains the warmth of analog (the good stuff) without the muddiness and murkiness typically associated with analog delays (the bad stuff). (This "good" and "bad" stuff, btw, is IMO only ... not meant to offend anybody who may like those sonic attributes.)
It really is the best of both worlds combined into one pedal. Best delay I've ever tried thus far, by a long shot. I have not tried the AnalogMan, which I'm sure is an excellent pedal, especially for the price.
