Very handsome..although it's making me thirsty-looks like a fizzy orange drink!

I agree! That begs for some unique names for the knobs.

Ok so everyone seems to like the outlined review,,,so here we go.

Gear used, OW Tele w/Budz p/ups>MP amp>MP 4x12 cab (2 Eminence Red Fangs/2 Private Jacks). Normal(clean) channel.

Comparison of SYOD and SOOD only tried solo,,large space,, full band volume.

Well since I never use the SY treble above 12,,,I found more range for my taste in the SOOD right away.

I kept volumes on both the pedals set at 9:30 as I use a higher amp vol with my clean channel.

The amount of gain maxed out and vol seemed the same. The range in treble knob is the biggest variant.

The treble maxed out(5:00) on the SO seemed comparable to the SY treble around 10.

When the drive and treble were set to 12 on both,, the SO seems to be heavier and gainier,,maybe due to increased low end. Which kind of made the texture of the drive change but not drastically.

With the drive maxed on the SO, it seemed to be too much low end for my closed back 4x12 without adjusting it. I would have like to had a 2x12 available, but I did not.

The SY seems to stay clearer/cleaner and as mentioned before a bit more in your face,,or ear. More sparkly ! 

The SO has a rounder, warmer feel to me. Definitely more bass and low mid than the SY.
I tend to use a more percussive flat pick in a jam based style. I would probably choose the SY if I played more blues and country. I was really cranking the treble with drive below 10 on the SO.

I still like both into the DRD for stacking ,,,,would probably choose the SO as I tend to turn the treble down on the DRD as well. The SY> SO was decent stack but didn?t get to spend much time with it,, maybe some others can.

So ideally for me I wish the SO had a hair more treble, and a touch less low end to go with the 4x12 cab. Not to be overly picky,, just some suggestions.

My favorite settings for both are always near V 10 and D 2 into my clean channel. Treble for SY between 10-12 and SO between 3 and max. It would be a tough choice to choose just one. Enjoy!

So you found that the low end on the SOOD was less overbearing with the gain below mid-way?

I tend to run the gain on my SYOD quite low and find run in that way it seems to attenuate a little bottom end.

Hi Realfi,
sorry for the confusion,,,yes less overbearing, I didnt notice the loss of low end as much since the gain on the SO is a little thicker to me overall. I do wish I had my smaller cab to try it with at the time as the low end did seem over bearing on the SO with the gain cranked on it thru a 4x12.

I think you will find the SO will have more bottom end than the SY at lower gain settings.
but I also found myself turning the treble way up on the SO at lower gain settings to maintain the sparkle more.
Hope that helps.

Cabo (and other SOOD checkers)

I believe BJ was responding to those that didnt want any bass loss on the SYOD.... see how close the SOOD is too 'unity bass' or same on/off.........
