Happy 10th Anniversary People!!

Wow, it has been a challenge to keep my mouth shut about the Payphone Green Over Dist till now!

Seriously.. this is such an amazing pedal and so deserving of this spot in the history books!! Listen to the range of tones available in Donner's clip.. this is for me perhaps the only single dirt box that can cover really tasty low gain right through to hyper gain and retain an integrity of the core sound and playability all across the range of parameters on offer.. BJ, you have outdone yourself once again!! This is a very unique box and I feel our recent journeys into fuzz will perhaps need to be considered here as well.. There is that 'something' going on :music

BJ, please correct me if I'm mistaken.. now I know Björn likes a story .. and I remember this pedal is a result of him waking up and having a revelation; '..hmm.. this might be interesting to try out..' .. and now we have the Over Dist!!

Congrats on a fantastic 10 years of forum fun, I for one am looking forward to many more

Excellent sounding pedal, and a very interesting circuit, not to mention colour! :love10

I wish I could have gone on this one, but the £/$ exchange rate + the import taxes killed the deal for me.

Very happy for everyone else that got theirs, though!...hopefully we can get some more clips.

For the ones that have one, is there more gain than the Model H?

A High-Gain MH4K would be my dream distortion :)

Bjorn, I look forward to the echo stuff, as I have never been 100% satisfied with echo.

Happy anniversary, and here's to many more years on the forum :pedallove 8)

Yeah the import duty/vat killed this for me as well, it puts nearly £100 on top of the price. looking forward to the echo. I was going to put a post up earlier concerning the Bearfoot echoverb but it appears everything is in hand :) this is all good.

Still enjoying the pedals I have, always looking to adding more. keep up the good work

Sorry for those who couldn't swing it this
time...that was the case for me with the sparkle face...
soon enough though.

I was going to wait until the PGOD got here for the complete
surprise but, no matter… 'twas cool to get the official
reveal from Don and Bjorn ...GREAT backstory, and color
for that matter...that's an excellent and very specific shade of
green....has a very consumer/industrial/pseudo military vibe to it.

Yes, Bjorn, pay phones, phone booths...kind of iconic structures
to the youth that remember them...ha right...coin fishing, whether
in or around the floor or even leftovers in the change dispenser...
..wow, how did we cave dwellers survive pre mobile :laughing7

Well... funny with the PGOD...it's the reason why I got my Matchless
SC-30 head and cab back in '94 in school bus green...Green is not even my
favorite color, but those memories kick in especially from summer camp
at age 7, riding the school bus, with that school bus green vinyl seat covering.

Yerp...nothing beats the emotional coding back in the day, so...Well done!

In any event, FWIW, I had complete faith sight unseen, that Bjorn would rock
something uber cool as this...it's like just when you think you've sampled all the slices
of overdrive and distortion pie, BJ done conjures up yet another flavor helpin' :pedallove :music
Looking forward to this one!

Wow.. so right on the payphone colour and past experiences!! I remember as a young teenager going to the local phone booth to call girls so nobody would interupt me at home.. haha!! Those nervous hands spinning the dial on that green metal talking machine.. ah the memories!

In fact.. on the subject of past experiences, I was talking to a friend with a toddler today. Small children are always putting things in their mouths right!?! Ask yourself this.. if you look around your surroundings right now do you know more or less how everything tastes? Plastic, wood, metal.. even carpet?!? When you think about it, you know the tastes.. We have explored all of these things from an early age and this of course got me thinking about tone and dirt in particular.. especially after a session with my PGOD today.. I recognize an incredible array of tastes and flavours available from this one design that I have usually only discovered during many different, diverse experiences across a range of boxes.. A very good sign indeed!! The EQ possibilities and usable gain range is really quite astounding.. so yeah, look around the room and taste the flavours. :love10

Zhivago, I will do a comparison to my Model H so you can hear them together.. mine is a really early one and has plenty of gain.. in fact, both pedals have lots of gain.. and I like gain :music

Hahaha! I am a gain freak too! 8)

I look forward to your findings...I am totally in love with my MH4K...it is a pretty early one too...#4 if I remember correctly. It is my desert island pedal! :love10

A few more reflections.. The more I play it the more I find the PGOD to be a take on a polished, full spectrum, 'modern' studio guitar tone.. it has a 'boldness' across all frequencies that makes for a big big sound when using it on high gain and still enables great dynamics when the gain is really really low. I think this is a box that any studio tech would love to have access to :pedallove

I'm sure BJ can chime in on this as I feel as if the filtering in combination with the placement of the gain stages has made this into quite a remarkable circuit. Just to clarify.. super low gain and hyper gain in one box..?!? :notworthy

Oh yeah, I share Marty's sentiment about not everyone getting access to this.. however I know that there are some really great things on the way.. just over the horizon :music and if it is any consolation, Björn didn't get one either and told me he really wish he had one too!

Ok...so it landed yesterday, and was able to get a quick
1/2hr spin on it.
Thanks Don for the quick shipping

As per the cosmetics, it just such a simple and lovely
shade of gray green that pops with a great hammerite/hammertone
finish you often see on vintage and re-issue MK II Tone Benders
and other vintage fuzzes....very cool.
Anyway...quick impressions....it's quite the little monster! From low gain to high
the sonic imprint is full and large sounding because of the way the bottom end is
tuned throughout the gain range, and it's presence no matter where the treble
and mids are set.
It's got a great feel, different to the other drives, and sounds both raw and refined
at the same time which is just great.
The T and M controls are voiced really well with a lot of settings that are favorable.
Also, the balance between the available Treble and mids is balanced quite well between
each other, meaning, if the mids are at either extreme of the dial, it sounds equally good
because again, the overall EQ of the circuit is quite full sounding.
Then, within that range, there's a nice area for the Treble to offer many different shades of grind.
Lastly, I'm hearing as the mids increase, they get fuller, but also tighter and more focused, plus there seems to be a bit more gain at the more fully CW setting. It's great because since the mids get focused, the circuit never sounds boomy or too bottom heavy anywhere...it just sounds
big, fat, and rocking :music
Oh, and of course the dynamics are great, even at full drive, which I wouldn't expect anything else coming from Bjorn, because after everything else he implements, it's the dynamics, that enhance the feel and responsiveness which puts everything else over the top.
I'll try to pop off a demo later this week to more sonically elucidate on the aforementioned.

Thanks Bjorn! :bjorn Another winner!!
