Early BJFE Honey Bee landed this morning!

Postby zhivago » Sat Jun 11, 2016 1:12 pm

Wow. :love4

just wow...I have wanted one for what seems like an eternity...ever since it was released and people on the Musictoyz forum would go on about it.

Somehow I never bought one...until today...I managed to score an of the first 100 made.

I am just blown away by the dynamics of the pedal...it really is as good as people say it is, and it stacks incredibly well with my Model H. :pedallove

Oddly enough, while people say that it is best to go MH > HB, I found that HB > MH sounded way better to me. Also stacking it with my silver Klon send it into Neil Young territory...such a great dynamic sound.

what a pedal! :)

Great score!

I've got #005 Honey Bee, that has been in my board since 2002.
What's your HB's serial number?

Hey thanks!

my serial is #078, so still pretty early, but not as early as yours!! 8)

what amp do you run it through?

It is such an awesome pedal, I am just totally floored by how good it is...it plays well with my silver Klon, and my BJFE 4K Model H.

I pulled the trigger on a 5K Model D this evening...can't wait to see how it stacks with the Bee! :love10

I know the early HBOD's are said to be different than the modern ones. Can you get a new HBOD that will sound exactly like the earlier ones? Or did the first ones use parts that are now gone/scarce/hard to find?

My understanding is that the newer HBs have been modded a bit along the way to get to their current state, so the only way to get the "early sound" is to get one of the first 100 or so made.
