Ok....another BJF demo done pretty quick and rough(really cold and set up quick)...equipment details are on YT...amp is up fairly loud and in a small room, so...

Actually the I-phone recordings can sound quite OK with louder settings if recording is done in a much larger room(but then placement is critical) where the phone compression doesn't squash things so much and the midrange, although still a bit funky, is less pronounced.

Anyway..like what accolades have been offered so far, similar for me...there are a lot of great tones/settings in here, and yes, it IS all about the edge control...like what can be said about a lot of pedals, that they sound better turned up...well, I've gotten great tones with most all of BJ's drives and fuzzes at low to moderate levels, and true for the Model D as well, however, I feel even moreso than some of the other drives, this one has to be turned up a bit to be fully realized and appreciated( cookin' but certainly not deafening)...those that have one I believe know what I'm talking about....;)...and the D really has it's own thing going on compared to the other BJF drives....the only bit of related cross-over I hear is in some settings on the Deluxe Honey Bee more toward the CCW position on the nature knob, but the D has truly got it's own feel, vibe, and grind that is really satisfying and fun to play.

Oh...also....I'm a gain hog for sure, and I play primarily with humbuckers, but my D has boatloads of gain...I don't use it past the drive setting on the video currently, but with the compression, there is a lot to work with...it's a scorcher...I wonder how other's feel about theirs...lastly, I'm not much of a stacker at all...I prefer the original sound a feel of each drive, and although I'm sure there might be great combos to hit up front with, I just wouldn't want to mess with all that gushy sweet David Lindley Dumble crunch and sustain :music

Accurate descriptions everyone

So many nice tones Marty! I love the sound two minutes in when you max the body control

I will try some persian green & cherry buster stacks soon and report back :music

Thanks Angus...literally threw that 1st pass down cold, no warming up, but there were some inspired bits for sure...I'll probably do another
demo soon...yeah, the Body control should be labeled "C" for cholesterol :laughing7 It just fattens things up so nicely while remaining
focused and isn't woofy or flabby at all(TY Bjorn  :bjorn )...really fun to play like that with the drive all the down.

Yeah, it is like the Caesar Diaz/Stevie Ray tone ideology of letting the mids and highs crunch while keeping the lower frequencies more stout--more
like output tube distortion than pre-amp.

Was playing my Ric Lap Steel through the D last night...hadn't play that thing in a while...wow...instant "Mercury Blues"/David Lindley tone...I know,
big surprise, but the tone was so realized you could use a Radio Shack mic haphazardly thrown up into an 8-bit digital recorder and still capture that
tone :laughing7 ...will have to do a demo of that too.

Played the "Model D" thru my 50W Hiwatt head (actually it's a Ceriatone modified by Björn and me) which is a very "bold" amp, and the compression of the "D" made it work really good with this head!

The compression and the focused mids of this pedal are the two things that I find make up most of its special character.

I also tried it with a 30 W EL84 combo set for a slight crunch and the "D" stacked up really nicely here as well :-)

Nice pedal indeed.

Ok...so, put together a quick demo of the Model D with the Ric Lap, all improvised on the spot(see sound details on YT)...I warmed up a short bit beforehand, but it's still very rusty for me as I haven't played it for any length of time in over 3 years...not all drives work "right" with the Ric Lap because it's so huge and hot sounding, but through the D, I think it sounds pretty damn sweet....LMK what you guys think.
