Talk to me about the MP Mellow Yellow Tremolo!

Postby Hulakatt » Tue Sep 25, 2012 8:49 pm

I've been looking for a good tremolo pedal for about as long as I spent looking for the right delay and I recently scored a decent deal on the MP MYT. What am I in for? I haven't really heard too much about this pedal around here (or anywhere else for that matter). I think it's based around the tremolo from the BF Fenders or is that just hearsay?

Not sure what the design basis is but from my fond memory of it.... it's just a great simple sine-wave tremolo. Sounds great fast or slow and isn't overbearing. It meshes really well with everything else. I would like to get another one some day. :love4

I really liked it when I tried it recently. It's a great sounding sine wave (I think...) trem. I ended up finding a Saffron Yellow Tremolo, which sounds really similar to it and is fantastic. I've always wondered why there isn't more talk about it, myself... I suspect the new CB model will change that somewhat.

If there's a PCB version coming out I'll probably pick one up. At that price point, I can't think of another trem I'd rather have.

I don't hear that much talk about it but one of my favorite tremolos ever I have is the Catalinbread - Semaphore tremolo, it's an opto tremolo and I just love the sound of it. Very versatile as well. Mine is in the regular small enclosure and it's a lot crammed into one little pedal. I think they discontinued the small size & now it's larger....I do remember reading that it was actually difficult to fit everything in the small size (4knobs & 2 toggles). Plus the price was good as well. Just thought I'd mention it as I really do think it's an amazing trem.
Of course built in amp trem is killer.....
