I think for many it will be their first project. And as far as "ordering" here is a list of the folks that expressed interest as of August some time...

Not sure how correct that list is for everyone else, but I was hoping to be in for two boxes and kits... Also, I do have soldering skills.

I can update it tomorrow from my work computer (great use of time ) I may have a more up to date one on that computer but this was just the first one I found. I'll check tomrorow.

I am thinking due to the overwhelming response of folks wanting kits it'll be one per person at first. If there's extras we go back through the list, I guess

Thanks! Yeah, DonneR mentioned maybe doing a second run of boxes if there was interest... Ultimately I would buy two complete kits if I can, but would be more than happy to just have only one box and kit from the first run if we end up running short, then just get another if there's a second run... I'd rather everyone that wants one didn't have to miss out.

The new and improved Cherrybuster...



This one combines both circuits instead of laying both out and creating redundant parts. This has the buffer always on, and the Z control is always active. The footswitch engages the boost function around the existing buffer circuit, greatly reducing the number of parts... Thanks to Bjorn!

Ive laid out the components with lots of space around them for the folks with fat fingers Also added a bit of extra space around each solder connection to allow for sloppier soldering jobs or irons without a sharp tip.

I have done plenty of soldering but this will be my first box... this layout is so well thought out bsic! ..especially considering that some of us have not as much experience in diy. Clearly an awesome first build and the Z has me really excited... I can not wait to see what this baby can do!

OK - final layout and schematic done!

I made a few more final tweaks, and removed all the metal for B+ on the back side of the board, surrounding the solder points, to leave room for big gobs of solder This should be a good board for newbies to get their feet wet!

Remind me of the layout. I forgot what the Z control is.

How do fuzz pedals work with an always on buffer? Any way to add a switch like the MP RRB to turn the buffer totally off or totally on?

I may also remove the "pour" on the solder side, so that there is no danger of shorting to ground if you put too much solder on. Will make a lot more traces of wire on the PCB but thats more an asthetic thing

Do most folks who have ordered these have experience soldering?

I am pretty handy changing pickups, but I have never built a pedal or amp.

What type of soldering iron do you guys recommend for projects like this? Mine just burnt out so I need to buy one anyway. My old one was a Weller 25 Watt.

25W is plenty. Just get a nice sharp tip for it if you can and it will be easier!

OK folks, PCBs have been ordered. I should have them some time in early/mid October! Thank to bsic for all the hard work in getting the PCB layout completed leaving us all with plenty of room for soldering and reducing the total number of parts on the board. Your hard work is certainly appreciated! There wil be plenty of PCBs to satisfy demand. And, I am hoping to offer a limited number of parts "kits" (about 20) to go along with the boxes Donner made up (Donner -- keep an eye out for a PM on coordinating that soon). Just wanted to send an update. I know we have a list made up but with the amount of time that's passed between that time and when we'll actually see kits we may need to sort of re-do or at the very least, reconfirm that. But we can cross that bridge next month when kits are starting to be assembled
