I believe Donner agrees to modify original research boxes to any developmental state throughout the research process. He offered to modify my Beest during the first run of research. Of course, I wanted both Beests, so I bought the modified version.

I'm all for the advanced sale of pedals so that Donner can get some feedback by some of the enthusiasts here. The one thing that generally keeps me from participating is the cost. I'd appreciate a small price break so that if the pedal doesn't quite fit with what I like then I can flip it without loosing money. It's much easier to tell if you'd like the pedal after all the demos have been done and posted.

Being involved in the research process is very special though I haven't had the opportunity to participate yet. I notice that often the research models or early versions are highly sought after (MH, CH, BF PGC, SYOD, etc). I always read the thread discussions on how the early versions are "more open" "less focused" and I seem to always gravitate to those versions. I hope that whatever flavor is being researched has not been fully realized and in its infancy. Often I read through the BJFe Library to see the evolution of the circuits and think to myself "Wow! I wish I was involved with the early research of that pedal from the description of it, I want one!".

So in general just understanding what stage of development the research is in would help.

From my perspective if its a new circuit ... like a "Model O" ('73 Orange Amp OR120) - I'm IN
If its an adaptation of an already realized circuit like the HBOD to Honey Beest - I'll most likely pass.

Agreed on this point. I've spent time with the majority of the standard (and non-uber-rare) BJFe pedal types and would much rather spend $ and research effort on new models or ones that never really made it for one reason or another.

Wow... I would totally be up for some research but I understand this is Bearfoot gear and would only be available for our US based pedal scientists?

I do agree with the sentiment that it is more interesting to be participating in completely new designs over helping with the fine tuning of a unit that is going into production... but I guess both would be pretty cool to have a hand in..

Something I would like to see in the future though is BJ's take on a 'musical' noise gate... that is, something that helps when stacking noise boxes / single coils without neccessarily behaving like a guillotine. An upper/lower octaver would be pretty cool to mess around with as well..

Yeah maybe research is the wrong word for the BearFoot stuff as its more making sure it is properly close to the BJF version and that any upgrades are properly implemented..... there may be a few suprises coming up, but our plate is full enough with just getting out what people want from the BJFe line.. Yes the River of Fuzz is ahead and we turned over some cool rocks and found some suprisingly fat juicy worms for fishing for tasty Fuzztones

What color were the worms, I wonder...? White? Red? Pink Purplish? Hmmm... I could do with another fuzz... I loved the Candy Apple... A lot. However, it was a bit too bright for my rig (a Voxy sounding Morgan AC20 Deluxe) most of the time. Still, I miss it very much, and will eventually get another one... I'll maybe try harder to stack my next one with my SBEQ or Honey Bee, and work more with the tone in order to tame the highs... I would like a treble trimmer on the CAF, though. That'd be ideal for me...
