Serial no. question on BBOD

Postby fenderbender4 » Sat Aug 25, 2012 3:33 pm

I won a beat up, but working BBOD from ebay for a good price. I was curious if anyone remembers owning it/getting it modded. Just a little concerned over authenticity purposes. It says Hello Cleveland with a bear face on the back and then smaller writing "V2 08". The no. written underneath the circuit itself says FT071 (I think).

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum, just looking for some help.

Thanks in advance.

Are you concerned the pedal may be a falsification? Bjorn does mod V1 BBODs to V2 specs. I have heard and seen pictures of a BBOD with that inscription at some point.

Cheers.

Almost positive that one is legit

The FT serial number is a v1 number but BJ probably just modded it to v2 specs. Actually... it looks like the ad explains it all...

Hi,

You are looking at a Bjfe Baby Blue Overdrive, BBOD, that I bought new in 2001. As almost all of these first run of Bjfe pedals this one looks very beaten up, but in fact it is not! They were all painted with a very very weak painting layer, so with normal usage they look like they where made in the 1800 hundreds :-). This one also has a modification made by the "Mad Professor" himself, Bjorn Juhl (the man behind Bjfe pedals and amps). He calls it V2 mod, and it gives the pedal more output than stock BBOD. This makes the pedal more versatile, but still it has the same amazing tone! I guess this modification makes this pedal vey rare indeed!! It is in perfect working condition. The production of BBOD ended years ago because the lack of NOS-componets.
I live in Sweden so if you live outside the EC you might have to pay customs and/or taxes for your country.

Happy bidding, no reserve on this one!

Yeah I was concerned with a fake or something. Thanks for the reassurance. I don't mind the physical condition, just as long as it works as it should.

I totally forgot about that auction or that one probably would have been mine
Or at the very least you would have had to pay more for it :laughing7

Unfortunately not my BBOD, just what turned up in an image search. I did have a BBOD for a short time and while it was excellent, not my thing. I'm much happier with my DRD or EGDM for that type of work. I guess I'm just more of a british guy?

I have been using a BBOD OD that I bought here from a forum member. I find it a very unique, and usable pedal, especially at stage volume. The only marking I have in my BBOD is a serial Number, I couldn't imagine anyone trying to copy this circuit, the board is heavily encased.

I saw that auction too but held off. Good luck!
