if some of you want to take a run at the one knob and see how much interest there is in a 3 knob or ~~~

Let's just go ahead and make the kit a 3 knob version. If someone decides they want the one knob functionality, they can just dime the input Z knob and turn the output Z knob all the way down.

Mine. I just made it up. I do actually prefer 3 knobbers though and it not entirely baseless.

Sounds good. I could hardly imagine the MG without the fourth knob, and without the trimmers on the MH and EGDM, I would be limited to set-up options. Three knobs is certainly a common design concept, but I am not convinced the number of knobs determines the value of a pedal.

I respect your considerations and hope you can continue to have your tonal desires satisfied.

As I said, there are exceptions. One of my absolute favorite pedals has no knobs at all and is remarkable flexible. I don't really avoid pedals due to their number of knobs but I just find I am most pleased with the 3 knobbers. Usually with pedals that have more knobs, I find that I never use one or more knobs and find they sound the best in their "neutral" position (like on the 4k Beest and MH).
