Model H and Honey Bee Stack?

Postby jlag » Thu May 24, 2012 8:45 am

Hey guys. I have some stacking questions. I've looked all per the web but couldn't find anyone stacking these two pedals. I have both and have messed around with some stacking. Generally I've always stacking od's in ascending gain order. However, when I did this with the HB>MH, the bee totally muddied up the H. Tried it on a bunch of settings, and it robbed the H of its punchiness and clarity. Switched the order, MH>HB and together it's just high gain bliss. The only thing I have noticed is the HB does take a little of the lowest frequency response away from the H but in a way that just makes it crisper if that makes sense.

I have my HB set up with volume at 2, nature at 7:30, and gain 10. I'm in love with this "combo on the verge of blowing up" tone I'm getting out of it. The Model H: volume at 11:30, nature at 1:30, and drive at 2:30.

I know every OD is different in how it responds to other pedals but was just trying to get a basic idea of some successful stacking of these 2 beautiful pedals if anyone's done so.

Here's my setup right now:
Hagstrom Swede [SD P-Rails Hot (parallel)]>TU-2>NS-2{Custom Comp>Zendrive>Model H>Honey Bee>Klon}>Mini Vol>Tremmalo>Deep Blue Delay>RV-600>VHT Standard 36

Pedals in "{ }" are in loop of NS-2
Klon is being used as clean boost (sounds absolutely ridiculous with the honey bee at my current settings :] )

I haven't yet. I've been using the Klon as an always on boost kind of deal.

That's actually a stack that I'm really digging on too. MH first, then the Bee. Stacking the Bee adds some juicy saturated gain and really just tightens up the overall sound. It sounds somewhat similar to switching the treble boost on a Fender but still maintains that lower end punch and girth of the MH. I have a Version 1 and have yet to try the others. Definitely two thumbs up. :thumbup: :thumbup:

I've even stacked it with my Buzzaround before them both, gain overkill if you will.

Wait do you stack the hb into the model h or the model h into the honey bee. I had no luck hub into the mh.

I stack the MH into the HBOD.

Here's my run down...

GUITAR -> RMC -> Montgomery App. Buzzaround -> CAF -> Model R -> Model H -> HBOD -> Wampler Delay -> Daimond Chorus -> SBEQ -> AMP

SBEQ is on at all times. My favorite stack is the MH and HBOD. Some stuff is just best by themselves.

Right on. Yeah I love them stacked. Trying to figure out how to implement my zen drive in the chain now. I like it for a lower gain od.

Finally got around to fine tuning all my pedals and now I have a whole new respect for this stack. The model H into the honey bee into my Klon as a clean boost is pure harmony. You get the high gain thump of the mh with a tone of a combo about to blow while still maintains the fullness and articulation of your guitar. Just wow.
