Since a BBOD pops up on the used market every once in a while, I thought it might be good to bump this and get some more info about it cataloged here.

Aside from any more info that anyone can provide, I've read on some other threads that it only works well through certain kinds of amps - what types of setups does it work best through?

Finally, does it have any relationship to the upcoming MP SBOD?

I LOVE my BBOD! It is certainly my 2nd favorite BJF device. At 12V, I could not be happier with the tones I can achieve. I own an V1 BBOD if that matters to anyone. I find the gain to be fantastic into my '71 Deluxe. The pedal excels at lower gain settings for rhythm work, and I find it can really cover a lot of rock/blues ground. I really do not play humbuckers much, but the BBOD excels with my strat and is quite spanky through my tele.

Any opinions from a Les Paul + Fender amp user?

I also own a BBOD v1, love it, and prefer it to the v2. It seemed to sound more a part of my amp than my v2 did. Both were fantastic, and the differences were slight but still there. Obviously the volume situation was better on the v2. The BBOD definitely does not get enough credit, as it is a pretty ground-breaking, original effect.

I use the board below the most for everything I do. I run it through a BadCat Classic Cat (dual 6v6s, 20 watts) and also through a 65 Amps London (18 watts, EL 84). The Badcat is like a big, bad Deluxe on steroids with more headroom and volume. The London (Voxy/Marshall) has less headroom but still can clean up fine if I keep the amp vol at 4-5. I use a PRS 5310 with humbuckers most frequently and I find I can almost leave the BBOD V2 on all the time and use my volume control to clean up my tone. For overdriven rock rhythm and chording I run the pedal's vol at 9-10 (about unity with my clean tone), the treble at the same, and the drive at noon or 1 with the guitar's volume full on. For solos I kick on the EP Booster and that puts my single notes out in the mix. I've started stacking a another delay with the MML2, back the guitar's volume to about 7 on the bridge pup and this cleans up things enough for some nice chime and shimmer giving me a great ambient wash effect perfect for softer songs. The other drive pedals are great and I like them all and rotate them frequently, but nothing seems to cut through like the BBOD for both rhythm and lead work. I guess the appropriate word is ballsy. I have most of the BJF and BF drives and I've gravitated to this BBOD the most. I am starting to believe that I could just have the BBOD and a boost for my drives and be able to cover everything.

Sounds like we are in the same camp, Alan! I think the BBOD is the ideal rock tone. I boost mine with a KLON. The hint of fuzziness contributes to this idea of "ballsy"-ness you describe. The pedal can cut through quite nicely as is, and when boosted, it gets out front easily.

Is that how you run your LGW?

Rockeroo, I wholeheartedly agree, the BBOD is rock all the way. The PRS's pup are a bit on the aggressive side so I find I don't need to stack much except to boost with the EP. I probably should rearrange the order to MR, BBOD, LGW, then the G, in descending order of gaininess. I like the LGW for slightly broken up tones, the R for the high gain, and the G to add a little hair to my clean tone and to warm up the other three if needed. But these past couple of weeks I have found myself leaving the BBOD on and manipulating the volume knob to clean up. Its the great do-all pedal.The EP does a great boost job but I could also put my RRB on there too with the same great results. I'm in the market for a BPB to put in its place and I like using drives and boost by one maker (Born in this case or Cornish for my other board).

I'm with you guys in regards to this being one of my favorite BJFE designs. At Rockeroo's suggestion I have tinkered with it at 12v and it does tighten it up a little. I love the mild fuzz vibe about it and particularly like the BBOD with a strat for low gain stuff, but it can do roaring feedback kind of drive all the same and very well. At this point I think I have owned almost every BJFE and the BBOD and MR are my two clear favorites.

What amps/guitars are you guys using? I was fortunate enought to recently pick up a bbod and have been pretty underwhelmed by it so far. I've mostly been playing it through a Marshall with a strat or les paul but it sounds kinda thin too me. Even with the paul, it feels like somethings missing out of the tonal range.

deluxe reverb with a strat.. I find that if you run it at 12 volts it's sweetens things up a bit, but that's just me. As I have said before, and agreeing with alan, the baby blue is all out rock tone for me. The hint of fuzz in the tone really make things sing in my opinion.

My favorite pedal by far.. Model H is next in line, and stacked they sound incredible.
