Little OT but for some reason they or at least mine really like the buffer in my Boss TU-2 wich is first in the chain. So I was thinking of putting the the tuner in between vibe and fuzz. Would this get the job done or is guitar signal already degraded by the vibe?

If you throw the buffer in between I'd think it would probably work out. The MGMV is pretty "transparent" as far as vibes go so it shouldn't over-eq the signal going into you MKI unlike some of the more "phasey" bives and I've always liked the tone of it running into drives. It does add a little top end sparkle and clarity but is otherwise pretty neutral.

I posted the same question over at the TGP in a tourboxthread but haven´t gotten a reply.
I have a mkI fuzz wich do not play nice with my rotovibe so i´m looking around for options and this has caught my attention.

In my experience MKI fuzzes are touchy with anything running into the input other than your guitar.

The MKI is a funny beast. I wouldn't put anything in front of mine but a wah pedal (which they seem to love). As regards vibe pedals, in my experience some (the MGMV) go best in front of distortion, some best after - but it depends also on the particular distortion or fuzz pedal in question. Germanium fuzzes in general are compromised in various ways when not 1st in your signal chain (wah excepted).

If you want a germanium fuzz that plays nice with the Rotovibe, I'd suggest a Mk 1.5 or Fuzzface used in front of it.


Unless you're running especially long cables, I wonder whether you actually need to worry about "signal degradation" requiring a buffer. Certainly the MGMV isn't likely to cause that problem. In fact, now that the BF version has the "level" control out front, you can, if you like, use it for a slight boost to the distortion or OD that follows.

Will take my gear down to my local bearfootdealer and find out for myself.

Changing fuzz is not an option for me cause that MK1 is the fuzzsound that I been hearing in my head.
It even kicked the CAF off my board, so if something gotta go then the rotovibe has to go. By the way, Rotovibe into CAF was awesome!

I will report my findings on this subject.

The MkI is one of my favorite fuzz sounds. But it's not one I tend to use with vibe or other modulation fx, and so I've never tried it with the MGMV. Hope it works for you.

I'm curious who built your MkI. Until recently they were rare as could be.

I think that BJFE/Bearfoot line strong suits is that they generally play very nice with other fx wich can not be said about this one.

yeah you might try using the vibe on with the amplitude down with the fuzz, and then just roll up the amplitude - so its already equalized to the fuzz/vibe interaction the modulation shouldnt screw with it further ....... and while youre there, check if they have any Dyna RedHots, Ive been doing some testing of it against some killer fuzzes and it sounds alot like a Bender/Muff with the guitar friendly mids of the Dyna Red and it works with other pedals too .....

I have a MkII Tonebender and run my BF Minivibe as a always on "tone enhancer" early in my effects chain (well before the MkII), so it's always on with the amplitude rolled off. It doesn't stop my MkII from sounding fantastic. In fact, the MiniVibe makes everything sound better (IMO).

Haven't played a Skinpimp; I've seen some gutshots posted online - they look beautiful. My MKI was built by Tim Cooper ("Fuzzfaceless"). "Not of this earth" is a good description. I've never played anything else quite like it.

The MKI has an unusual attack/decay envelope, which may account for its not being so compatible with (some) other fx. The MKII is quite different in this respect.

I'll be interested to learn the result of your further experiments.
