Anyone use BJFs with EL34s?

I've heard that Bjorns designs had fender amps in mind. With that said I have 2 musicman amps, one with 6l6s and one with el34s. Don't know if it's my imagination but the el34 amp seems to have this mid thing that keeps the BJFs from really shining. The other amp makes the pedals sound very hi fi.

Any experience? Or is it just my imagination, running away with me. (couldn't resist)

I use a boogie stiletto deuce two from time to time, and my BBOD and MH love it. It also really liked the AWF I threw at it.

With the boogie, I dial the bass almost completely out (8:00), with the mids around 12:00 and the treble around 1:00. I have noticed music man amps to have a peculiar mid range. I played one at a rehearsal this week, and the thing reacted weirdly to my normal pedalboard. Everything sounded honky and muddy.

I didn't care for the DRD through my Marshall combo, but the boosts & "tone refiners", namely the RRB, SBEQ, and PGC, were really really effective with that amp imho.

Yup Musicman has an odd mid hump that is in the circuit ---- speakers have alot to do with it --- what speaker does your MM have ?

Ive come to prefer either 6V6s or KT66s into Greenback type speakers

the clear high end in the tubes with the rounding at the end by the speakers .....

El34s have this rounding to them which I love for higher distortions - but not cleans or near cleans ....
