Yeah, I think it's probably going to go for big $ as there is bound to be someone who can go as high as need be. The only way I could stay in this would be to sell these two delays.
Honestly, it's kind of cool having both analog and digital to mix together and I am sure I would miss the EC at some point. The EC is and probably always will be the top of the analog delays. The Delay 80s really is IMO as good as people claim and really does a very convincing Gilmour (possible TES?) style thing. The one and only side by side comparison of the TES and the Delay 80s comes from a guy who I know has a lot of really nice equipment. Though I have had less than positive interaction with the author, he does paint a convincing argument to just hang onto the Delay 80s.
What I really look for in a delay is the ability of the delay to make things sound bigger without repeats getting in the way. I also like delays where the repeats are closer to the original guitar tone vs, the other extreme, the sometimes 'tin' sounding repeats of many delays. Both of these pedals are simply extraordinary, but as all of us on this site know, sometimes part of all of this is getting to try something that is very rare.
If you end up getting the one off eBay - keep your order in with Pete and I'll be your customer in a year or two
