Those of you that played the Beest ~~~ what power supplies did you use ??

Ok and did any of you hear any difference thru different power supplies ?


Heres the deal ~~~~ it seems that the power supply I use at our buildspot (tech21) matched up perfectly with the Beest and it sounds amazing THERE , but every other power supply I tried it with (PP2, Furman, Line 6 etc) it sounds like the octave fuzz thingy, which I guess is why I didnt catch it - they tested perfectly and I sent them out....

and maybe why a few of the proto testers say it sounds great and some hear otherwise .... very interesting conundrum we have ..... We built up some new ones yesterday but obviously Im not going to put them up until we figure out exactly what is going on........ and again if anyone needs thier money back short term, dont be shy ....

Donner, that was a good discovery. I definitely felt the Beest had a lot of fuzz with the nature knob turned to the left. It would be great to make sure the Beest is good with a PP2 or even a One Spot. I'll use a One Spot if I'm taking a couple of pedals to a rehearsal. I have 4 PP2s that I use on various boards and am about to setup a Pedaltrain Nano this weekend where I'll be using the One Spot to power 4-5 pedals. But in any case I am in with you as you figure this out.

Haven't seen any issues yet... I will try a couple different outlets on the PP2+ as well as battery tonight to see if I get any octave sounds....

Thanks Alan, this is a weird one and has everyone stumped ~ there will be an education from this pothole ... I sent a couple Beests over to BJ yesterday so he can lay hands on them and figure this out ... this should be interesting

Sweet FUZZ tones, Donner! I bet Bjorn will enjoy the "accidental" find. I enjoyed playing with it while it was around. Best of luck trying to unlock the mystery!

I'm using a Dunlop DC Brick. Haven't had the octave fuzz thing, but I am surprised at how much fuzz is in this pedal. In fact I'd say it's a full on distortion!.

Anyone try it with and without a buffer?

Seems to play nicer for me with a buffer in front...

Ok looks like we have it solved and all shall soon be righted

turned out to be an unforseen part variance and while being a huge pain in the butt, we learned a few things and I think you will dig the final final Beest ...

I have the first corrected one and it sounds great and Ill torture it and see if I can make it malfunction in anyway but so far so good --- assuming all is well we will correct the other Beests that are here and get them out this weekend.....

This Beest is a higer gain Bee but we backed off the hugely saturated gain so it will still do the 'clean to dirt with pick pressure' effect that the Bee is famous for but as you get up to 10 to 2 oclock on the dirt it is higher distortion and past 2 oclock it moslty just increases the sustain/compression ...... overall the EQ has more headroom and less bass bloat which happens with the Bee when it is pushed or turned up --- so overall you have a more open sounding pedal with more actual distortion and more compression available in the upper ranges ...... sorry, no octave fuzz tones .
