just got a timmy

Like just about everyone else, I was curious about the designs of Paul Cochrane, so I bought a Timmy. For $129, it seems this pedal cannot really be beaten, and the interesting functionality of the EQ section is excellent for stacking. What I am curious about is what drawbacks have you noticed when using the Timmy, and why you are not using it on your pedalboard if you own one. What alternative(s) have you chosen to use?

I was looking for one pedal I could use alongside my dual terror rig for the boosting (and pushing) of both channels. The Timmy certainly fits the bill for that.

I look forward to your responses.

Cheers.

My name came up on the waitlist for a Tim about two or three months ago. I really love it. I completely agree with you that the EQ controls are brilliant.

I honestly love my harem of BJFe drives, but I could honestly see how a person with a two channel amp could thrive with just a Timmy, modulation/delay and the amp. When I do not feel like lugging the humungous rig out, I may just bring along the dual terror, my timmy and a DBD ... perhaps a model H to stack with. That would really suffice. If I wanted to get crazy, I might chain the PGC and SBEQ in for fun. 5 pedals and an amp. I NEVER do that.

I also got a Timmy directly from Paul and love it. I use it early on and use it to push my ods with it. I run it at 18 volts and have the gain below 9.

When i first got it, i was puzzled about the Treble and Bass knobs. But now, they seem very intuitive and often times wonder why other pedals don’t have it in a similar fashion.

Recently i have been comparing my timmy with the Soulsonicfx Illuminated (tweaked Klon) and am leaning more towards the timmy. The Illuminated is very good, but i can achieve similar results with my frommel shape eq+timmy

How and where are you guys running your timmy/tim? Are you stacking it with bjfe’s? If so, which are your favorite combinations?

I have yet to insert the Timmy into my rig, but I may give the KLON a boot to give the Timmy a try.

Right now, I like the gain around 10-11:00, the bass @ 11:00 and the treble @ 10:00... volume above unity. I am looking to make both channels of my dual terror slightly dirtier than they already are and with a little boost as well.

The pedal has excellent dynamics and feels springy to my ear. I have yet to through it between my PGC and SBEQ, but that is next on my list.

Cheers!
