The right fit

I have been having issues with my PPF. It has decided that it is very picky about where it sits in my signal chain, and it does not like being in a set up with 10+ stompboxes. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might make my lovely PPF a happier camper?

She still sounds great, but the issue is with creating a massive hum/buzz when I attempt to engage the unit. The switching is very loud, and with my foot within a foot or so of the unit, the noises begin.

a friend was having similar issues with a wah pedal. He had like 10 pedals hooked up to one power supply. we were wondering if the ground hum and popping were due to having so many pedals drawing current from the one power supply. when his wah was powered by a different power supply-same type power supply, but with only the wah pedal connected-the wah had no issues. I am not sure if this even remotely helps, just a thought.

Interesting. I will give it a shot. The only thing was that the PPF was powered by battery (as were most of the adjacent pedals).

I find mine sits best at the end of the dirt chain. Right now I am running a Super Hard On to Amp 50 to Honey Bee to Sweet Honey OD to PPF
No issues with noise at all, but I am powering everything up withn an MXR CAE MC-403 power supply so that may factor in

Have you cleaned the stomp yet ?

it should be dead quite if properly powered, and will go anywhere in the chain --- thats what makes it so valuable to me ...

I have not taken apart the stomp yet. That is probably the right move. I tried multiple places in my chain and had similar 'freaky'uency issues. By itself, the pedal is silent and sounds awesome.

PPF might be my favorite BJFE dirt box at the moment (out of a growing list that currently includes HBOD, MHvT2, CHII and EDGM).

Donner, would you say that powering by battery is a bad option for BJFE pedals? I have liked the results with others, but perhaps my PP2 should be plugged into them.

No BJFes are great with batteries - BJ designed them for low battery draw so that shouldnt be the problem..... and if the pedal is fine by itself both battery and power supply - then the problem is else where.... perhaps a particular interaction with another pedal or a power suply or chord mismatch .....
Yes the PPF is an amazing fuzz for the ground is covers

It can be fine to daisy chain but at a certain point you get a groundloop and it can cause funny problems

Daisy chain ... as opposed to a bypass loop or switching system? If so, is there a good way around such issues for someone without access to a switching system?

I believe he's referring to "daisy chain" as in power. Do you have several pedals hooked up to the same non-isolated power source with a daisy chain cable (ex: godlyke and 1spot power supplies).
