Honey Bee Deluxe Gain comparable to Dyna Red?

Postby hathisisfunnyha » Thu Nov 18, 2010 9:30 am

So I am tempted by a Honey Bee Deluxe that's currently listed in the forum, and I was hoping some of you with experience with that pedal could let me know in regards to gain it has within it. I know it has an adjustable gain trimmer inside, but I love the gain on tap of the Dyna Red, and I wasn't sure how the Honey Bee deluxe compared and if they are similar or in different areas entirely. I like that I can be sloppy with the Dyna Red and I know that just is not the case with the HB.

Any input is helpful

:D

Hey there-

The DRD definitely has more distortion. The HB DLX has more bite and depth of distortion when the trimmer is up, but it still gets that classic Bee sag, and "clang" to it. IMO, they cover completely different ground.

Not sure if that helps :)

Yeah, Bill is right, and that is pretty accurate...they are two different animals...overall, the DRD has quite a bit more gain.

The Deluxe Bee however has much more gain over a stock Bee though, and with humbuckers, it does sing, and the BPB side adds that extra bit of enhancement that makes it really shine(thanks as well to the buffer)...did a multiple demo here:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3188

featuring the first batch of SYOD(V2), the Deluxe Bee(the Bee only, no BPB, but with the gain maxed and the internal trimmer maxed) with no booster in front, just straight in, so it can rip if you want it to :music

Told Pete not to sell it.... :whistle
