Model H

So, I got my Model H (v2) last week. I finally got a chance to get acquainted with it just a little bit last night.

WOW!!!

I need to spend a ton more time with it, but I have to say that I was absolutely amazed in that I was able to dial it in within less than a minute & it sounded fabulous. Very touch sensitive, but surprisingly easy to find a sweet spot quickly (I was playing a fairly low volume so I had the gain cranked, tone at about 1 o'clock & volume around 9 o'clock).

Rig used: Creston Esquire with Lollar P90 / Model H / SF Princeton Reverb

Lots more to mess around with as I have a humbucker guitar & a couple other Esquires with different single coils, plus a few different amps. The tones I'm getting are exactly what I was hoping for & more. Incredible sustain, too.

I had an opportunity to pick up a V2 recently, but had to pass(I have two H's already),
but now I'm curious as to how this latest version will compare through my rig.

I'm loving the v2 as well. I've been running it with volume around 9 and treble and drive (is that what the labels are?) wide open and it sounds great with my single coils. Fantastic lead tones, great sustain, interacts really well with the volume knob and it cuts through really well! I think this is a BIG improvement over v1 for me as it sounds much less fizzy and harsh. Let us know more thoughts when you have the time -

Awesome... I just noticed you also have a Carmen Ghia. That's the next amp I'll be trying mine with... maybe tonight, but will definitely be playing a lot between now & this weekend.

Yeah, initial impressions are that this thing is anything but harsh. Smooth, yet aggressively voiced. I'm really digging it & can't wait to give it much more time.

My Tele has those 70's Seth Lover buckers, which have always sounded closer to P90's to me than to most buckers, so I look forward to giving it a whirl driven by that as well... but I'm a big single coil fan. My other Esquires have a Harmonic Design S-90 & a Lollar Vintage T so I have a pretty good range of pups & amps to pair the Model H up with.

Well, the quick/early conclusion is that this pedal understandably and rightly digs P90's!

I tried it with a single coil Esquire last night & it wasn't quite the same magic. I've also run it through the Carmen Ghia briefly with the same guitar & I'll definitely have to do some more dialing in with that combo.

But, I'm still amazed at how quickly I was able to get right where I wanted with P90's & a SF Princeton Reverb.

Well, whatever version I have (apparently V1/V2), this pedal works great with my setup (Gibson SG Custom Shop into a Germino Masonette)! It gives me a brutal, strong sounding od with the Volume at 11 o'clock and the drive level at about 7 o'clock & the tone to my liking. All I know is this pedal is the most amp-like pedal I've ever come across & it's going nowhere!
