Welp, sold off some other pedals and I now have a HBOD on it's way to join my EGDM. Next stop is selling off my badcat 4x12 to pick up a pine green compressor and some other stuff. I think the pine green will be my last bjfe for a while as I'll be set on what I use that is available to me via the bjfe line(though I do admit the new Mad Professor RRB is a bit tempting, especially at that price).

williamh, you are going to love the EGDM>HBOD. The HBOD is my favorite pedal. I have it near the end of the chain and it makes any pedal sound better.

Talking about addiction, i saw a SBEQ at a good price and had to pull the trigger. Hopefully i will get it soon and compare it to my Barb Eq. Since these pedals seem so different, i might end up keeping both.

Good pick up on TGP Jon.
Remember to try it at both ends of the chain.
At the end of the dirt as an all round tone shaper,
before the dirt to make single coils think they are humbuckers.
It's the pedal you notice when it isn't on. :pedallove
You don't often see/ get such a great deal on a BJF.
Good to see someone jumped on it at that price.

Strings2wood,

thanks for the advise. I actually don’t know much about the SBEQ, but i have been so impressed with the HBOD and the EGDM that i had to get it when i saw the great price.

I will certainly try it at the beginning and at the end of my chain. I already have a Barb EQ, so i won’t be surprised if i end up keeping both; one for the beginning, and one for the end of my chain.

I am also waiting for a Mad Prof. Deep Blue Delay, so am very excited.

I’ll report back when i get it.

cheers,
jon

Just got my honey bee and while it sounds good, I don't think it's going to end up being a pedal that I will bond with. It sounded good, but I just couldn't dial in a sound I could see myself using anymore than any other pedal that I have available to me at the moment. Don't get me wrong, it sounds good, it's just probably not what I'm looking for in a lower gain OD at the moment.

I guess the real test will be how I like it in band practice next week. Will probably update again then.

this might be a good time to throw my honey bee up for trade bait towards another bjfe pedal

anyways, yeah, it did sound pretty killer with my egdm running in to it, but I'm not much on keeping a pedal to stack into another unless it's a dedicated boost lol.

I find it works great as an always on pedal to give some tone shaping and grit and act almost like an amp simulator. It's also great for low gain rhythm tones. But if it's not for you then by all means trade it for something that will better suit your tastes. I know I found several of the BJFe drives to be KILLER but not what I was looking for (ex: MHv1, DRD, EGDM). Welcome to a seemingly never ending "quest" for tone...

william also before you move it on - try the HB in front of the EGDM as it sounds like the EGDM fits your rig really well the HB will give it a 'higain mode' while maintaining more of the EG EQ ......

yeah Maybe the DRD next ..... but if your looking for something unique some of the Research pedals would likley be of interst......

I'm gonna give it a good run through at rehearsal this upcoming week and maybe trying moving it before the egdm in the chain. I didn't get a whole lot of time to play with it today. I've been pretty interested in the SYOD v2. Did bjorn dial back the treble in it from the previous version by any chance?

Yup, that's what I meant. I owned the little purple overdrive(syod v1 in different enclosure from what I understand) for a while a couple years back, and it sounded killer with the orange I had at the time(which was a really dark amp). When I sold the orange and picked up my dr. z the LPOD was the first thing to go. Really bright pedal + really bright amp = ouch on my ears. I've been a bit curious about v2 as of late.
