Man, it's been a while since I've had the pleasure of playing through a bjfe pedal, but I'm pretty sure my emerald green isn't going anywhere this time around. Sounds way more like an amp than a pedal, which is what's always blown my mind about the BJFE line. My only issue at this point is deciding whether I like it better at 9 volts or 18 volts, as both seem to have their merits. It's sounding absolutely killer through my maz 38 combo.

Anyways, just showing some appreciation for a killer pedal.

nice thing about the voltage differences is you dont have to choose - just note what the differences are and use them to your advantage accordingly

Good deal--yeah, the EGDM is still and under-rated gem from the BJFE line--killer as just a boost pedal, and divine grind when you crank it up. Nice!

I did mess with the trimmer the last time I owned one, but this one already sounded perfect paired with my maz from the first go, so no adjustments this time around. The voltage question is more of a for live use issue.

Only problem now is i'm already debating picking up a second bjfe pedal. They are one of the most addictive brands of pedals I've ever used. Currently debating between a model H and a dyna red, though I feel the model H would give me more versatility in my sound right now than adding on a dyna red. The sky blue overdrive also always tempts me as I recall being pretty happy with it back when I had one. Maybe i'll try to track down an aqua marine wonder machine lol.

I've owned quite a few, but for some reason I never have held on to them and I'm not sure why. I've owned a honey bee, emerald green, dyna red, model H, and little purple(sparkling yellow), as well as most of the Mad professor line at some point. Anyways, just rambling on now.

If you have a PP2+ you can get 12 Volts by using 1 - 4 in the non-normal setting. These were originally speced for the Japan BOSS pedals, but I found my Model H and DRD really like 12 and used to use the EGDM at 12 also, but found it more versatile at 9 with a Strat.

The great thing about the EGDM is it seems to work with a distorting amp where some of the other OD/Dist dont. But then that is where the CAF comes into its own

williamh what kind of sounds do you make musically and do you use your amp more clean or dirty ?

I typically keep my amp set pretty clean. My most recent project(basically just getting off the ground at the moment), is kind of hard to describe. It's kind of a mellow pop rock sound, but i don't really know what it would be comparable to. We're in the process of recording some rough demos over the next couple weeks, so I can post some stuff up here when those are finished. I'm using the EGDM for an all purpose overdrive at the moment, as i find it's working out well for both rhythm and lead.

I'll have to try it out at 12 volts when i get my board wired back up and see how I like it.

also, am I right in saying that the voice knob on the pedal is essentially a compression knob? It just seems to add more compression to the sound the more you turn it up. Less clarity but more open and more body to it when it's back off, and more clarity and tightness but less "big" sounding when turned up.

The drive and voice knobs sort of simulate what happens to a Vox type amp as you turn it up
more compression and sustain and distortion
treble roll off and the bass becomes less sturdy

start with them both counter clockwise and move them up together a bit at a time all the way thru and youll hear it


the internal trimmer should help make this response appropriate for the speakers you are using...
