Well I did it. I was calling around for pricing last week for the OS-21 and left my number with a couple of shops and one of them called me up yesterday and said that they had one.
I went today just to play the amp and well you know how that goes....
I played the amp for about 40 min in the shop through a tele before I closed the deal.
The clean on the amp is very nice almost vintage Fender nice. The tonal range is excellent especially with the Cut knob.
Let me make this clear that I do NOT like master volume amps, however this is the best master volume that I have ever experienced. Better than the power scaling that I had on my old Reinhardt 18.
I had the amp cranked all the way rolled back the volume and it cleaned up like an old vintage amp should. The amp had more overdrive than I expected and with a MP Ruby Red it should have more than I would ever need.
The overdrive on the amp is more of the crunch variety than the smooth creamy overdrive that the old fenders produce.
At some point I will pop in some the extra NOS tubes I have for my DR to see if it makes it any better.
The only thing was that the amp wasn't as loud as I expected it to be. I thought it would be comparable to my DR, but maybe with a different speaker it might get close.
Sorry guys I am not set up for recording and I can't play it too loud in my apartment so I will have to report back after I jam at my friends place later this week.
