Pine Green Compressor LOVE

Postby Bobby D » Sun Apr 04, 2010 7:27 pm

i have come to the conclusion that if i could only have ONE BJFe pedal......it would be the PGC.

the Pine Green comes to nearly EVERY gig situation with me.

sounds great on ACOUSTIC guitar.

for my electric gigs, it really makes the guitar JUMP OUT of the mix, and makes it EASIER to play rhythm guitar consistently with even volume levels.

i really love the PINE GREEN. and it has that magic BJFe "sparkle" like the SBEQ. if you turn down the compressor knob, you can use the PGC more as a "sweetener" like the SBEQ.

i was using the PGC last nite at a gig in Key West, and it made me fall in love with it all over again

....yupper ! (and keep it away from your bassist - at one point PGCs were so hard to get because every professional Scandinavian bassist had to have one ... )

lol.....i will NOT let my bassist try it. he got my catalinbread SFT, and i haven't seen it SINCE!

i bet the PGC does wonderful things to bass guitar.

i have used a LOT of compressors over the years.....but there has never been anything quite like the PGC. the only one that comes close is the old TC Electronic Sustai/Parametric EQ pedal.....but that one has major SQUASH all the time, it can't be dialed out to make it more subtle. it's ALL or NOTHING with the TC SPE.

plus.......i just love GREEN pedals

Totally agree! I have a pick of the litter SPE (out of about 7 of them) and it is what I would use if the PGC did not exist - I love the noise suppressor on there too - its great for light pickups like singles....

Second favorite now is the MP FGC - I finally got around to playing one

great minds think alike

the TC SPE is "Bill Frisell in a box" -- i really love that series of pedals from back then. the Booster/Line Driver/distortion is another one that is FANTASTIC.....

but the PGC is just magic. it's got the most BJFe "fairy dust" in it of all the BJFe......along with the SBEQ.

the Dyna Red is my favorite IN YOUR FACE BJFe....but over time, i have come to appreciate the PGC and the SBEQ the most out of all.....both of those pedals are MAGIC

I'm really really glad I got a SBEQ. Its just always great to add in anywhere. The PGC I always love with cleans and now i'm getting into trying it out after my dirt boxes to level out the output a tiny bit. I'm liking it :)

I know we've had this discussion before Bobby D,
but if the world ran out of PGC's,
I know you'd also be happy with the AYA R-Comp.
Clean without squish,
best graphic on many a pedal,
and a very reasonably priced alternative.

It would be my re-purchased replacement for the sheen and brightness you value.
For me the tone could be shaped where the PGC was too bright with a Vibro King-
Made that in your face sparkle and high end better for my liking-
I know Newarkwilder went through the same dilemma when I last discussed this with you.
I know Mike also was playing his Super Reverb too,
Fender amps already have that clean brightness on tap.

I got my new guitar and was happy.
Still have 2 compressors on board(DOH!!!)
