Wow..just noticed RRB discontinued...

Postby jdandry » Wed Mar 03, 2010 10:36 am

I just noticed, I know I'm late to the game...that the RRB is out of production.
I just got mine in the mail yesterday, haven't had a change to try it out yet thought.
I'm glad I got a hold of one before the prices shoot up. I'm looking forward to
the new MP pedals this year! Red Ruby booster, switchable buffer, RRB/LRT mix..
sounds sweet! Patiently for my Sweet Honey to arrive, John

 So I got my Sweet Honey today and had a chance to mess with it and the RRB. I have gigs Fri and Sat
night so I'll be able to really hear 'em this weekend. The RRB is really nice, it sounds really good overdriven. I put
my EQ that I usually use to clean stuff up and cranked the level to hit the RRBs input really hard, and it distorts very nice, better than most OD pedals I've had! I have some questions about the placement of stuff. I need to think more though before I ask.
I'm thinking about maybe trying the RRB always on and adjust my amp for it. Not sure yet. Need more time with both the Sweet Honey, RRB and all of them together really. But I'm happy so far! Thanks Bjorn

EQ-RRB-FF3.5%-SHOD- DRD-DBD- AMP (chain right now)

also try running the SHOD as the OD and then hitting it with the RRB as a lead tone/boost ....

Sooo...Good gig last night with the new pedals, the one that stood out the most was the Folk Fuzz 3.5%.
It just sounded really good, seems to be really voiced for humbuckers which I've have alot of trouble finding in a fuzz.
The RRB sounded great, maybe a touch too much sparkle but I'm still adjusting my rig for the new stuff, so no verdict yet.
The SHOD was kinda weird to me, I really didn't get it to work for me but I need to give it more time. I have another gig tonight at the same place so I'll experiment some more but the Folk Fuzz is really is good, I put my 2nd FF up on the bay yesterday and if it didn't have a bid, I would keep it, it really impressed me. I'm also kinda having issues with the DBD. I can't seen to get it to sound great on stage like I could with my old EP-3 and Chandler units....hummm?

Re: Wow..just noticed RRB discontinued...DBD question**

Postby jdandry » Thu Mar 11, 2010 6:22 pm

I know that most of the time people run dealys at the end of the chain but could the problem
I'm having with the DBD ( sounds like the delays muddy everything up, cover up the straight tone too much)
be that I'm using it for lead and mostly hit it's front end with a DRD or RRB. Could I be just be hitting the input of the DBD too hard?

How do you set your DBD?

I have found live (for me) that I just use delay for my slapback-ish quick responses with less blend for my style of jazz/country blues (so the delay is brighter)... in this format I use it before my distortion. I found that after distortion and with the blend to high it was too "washy" just no definition. I fingerpick 85% of the time... but even with a pick it wasn't that defined.

I have a fulltone tte - it is able to run at the end of my chain - but unfortunately when I gigged with the tte regularly it was the only effect I used.

good luck!

hmmm yeah Delays can get too much input like anything else .....

and distortion pedal into delay can sound and feel quite a bit different than delay into to distorting amp ...

so yeah try putting your delay before your dirt and see what you hear..... 8)
