CAF - live test

Postby Logan » Sun Mar 07, 2010 5:57 pm

well, I've been waiting and wanting to use the CAF at a gig... had this thing for a few months and just trying to ease it into my set list. I think after the last two sessions I've figured out a new setting that is most enjoyable on the ears.

Volume full, cw, 11 or whatever
fuzz completely CCW or "off" or zero, whatever you want to say
nature knob right below noon, at the octave setting.

man, oh man... what a cool tone. Can really comp some horn sounds and awesome dynamic picking/chording from this thing.

fyi... playing a 54 reissue les paul through my old 65 deluxe reverb, tone tubby speaker.

what is your guy's settings?

I play mine with the volume at noon, and the nature/fuzz wide open (at full cw position). It has that "its gonna blow" type tone. I've got an early CAF, which is supposed to have more gain...it sounds awesome for that thick, full, noisey, out of control fuzz tone. Glad to hear you are liking yours!

what's great about the CAF is even with the Fuzz knob all the way "off" there is a fat/fuzz sound to the notes... more saturated fuzz tones when you dial it up. The way I have it set right now is a dry, woody sounding fuzz with a slight octave effect. Tremendous.

Do you have an early or a later CAF? The one I have is an earlier model and has a lot of gain. There really isn't a huge difference in the fuzz level until you push it past 3oclock or so. The thing I love most about this pedal when its cranked up is that there is this very sweet high end harmonic swirl thing goin' on when you hold out a chord. It's kind of hard to explain...but its truly addicitive to play.

YES! The CAF Swirl 8)

I love to put the CAF infront of a normal overdrive - turn the fuzz all the way down and let the effect part of the CAF be reshaped by the OD - some of my favorite lead tones are in this stack ---- LGW works really well for this btw 8)
