Chris Whitley...4 years today...

Postby analoghog » Fri Nov 20, 2009 2:13 pm

I surely do miss the man and his music!...he passed 4 years ago today...time goes by so fast...i really have nothing to replace his music with in my life as he was such a rarity, what many people call an Original! ...he really was a big influence on me from the very first time i heard his music as it really was the sound that i had been searching for in my head for years...he never missed coming to Chicago, usually twice on a tour, and i never missed a show here in town...i've met him several times and he was very intelligent, kind, and low key...he is one of my favorite all-time singer/songwriters!...you are missed Chris!

it doesn't surprise me that you are a CW fan, analoghog......i think a lot of people who dig the authenticity and vibe of Tom Waits would dig Chris.......there's something about artists like those two......raw, visceral, and REAL......that just speaks to me!

too bad there are so few like them...i guess thats one thing that makes them special...BD you have to see Tom Waits in concert, he is something to see live!...

i'd love to.....my best friend at college, curtis hayes, wrote his THESIS on tom waits....the trilogy of three albums, franks wild years, swordfishtrombones, and one other one.....it's a GREAT thesis, i think it's ont he web somewhere, will have to find a link for you, you woudl probably dig reading it.

i listened to a LOT of waits in college

and i still do "better off without a wife" at my live shows....
