Hi Mr. Juhl,

I posted on Bobby D's youtube demo that the pinch harmonics on the SHOD show the bite/ attack and higher gain vs the "sag"or looser feel of the HB.
He's done a great service in this A/B comparison and not just for those pirate pants which he wears so well. Can't wait for the Model H which is sleeping snugly somewhere in Australia Post as we speak during this holiday weekend!!!!

Kindest Regards and as always Go Well.

Simon in Melbourne.

I find the Focus control on the SHOD absolutely brilliant - one of most useful (for me) of the many unique "3rd knob" controls Bjorn has created. And I'd say I find the SHOD equally dynamic, compared the the HB, but the two pedals definitely have a different feel.

With my favorite BF Fender amps, pretty much the whole range of the Focus control is quite useable and I can dial in just the degree of dynamic sensitivity I want for a given tune or part. The SHOD has become my favorite OD (SHOD>LGW :!: ). Once you learn to "play" the Focus control there's a huge range of tones in there.

Thanks for posting the 3rd demo. The SHOD can come close to the HB with the Focus ccw. Interesting to hear the comparison (having done it myself) with your guitar and amp.

I think I was fortunate in acquiring my SHOD before ever playing an HB, so I was never trying to get HB sounds from it but just let it be itself. I find I use quite a variety of Focus settings, changing it several times during a set - sometimes to complement a pickup change but often just for a slightly different character to suit a particular tune.

I do have an HB now on my larger pedalboard and while I like it a lot, I find the SHOD more versatile and am contemplating a 2nd one to replace the HB. My particular choice of pickups on my Strats and the amps I most often use are no doubt a factor in this.

yes......i think BOTH pedals are quite amazing.

to my ears -- the SHOD is like an overdrive, and the HBOD is like an AMPLIFIER.....

the honeybee is the MOST dynamic pedal i have ever played thru. and the standard honeybee sounds to my ears BETTER than the honeybee deluxe i had for a few weeks.

the honeybee continues to amaze me. and i am VERY glad they are not "vapourware", and are still in production

i need to spend more time with the SHOD.......but.......i don't want to make the SHOD sound "like a honeybee"......i like to use it as the SWEET HONEY, and crank it UP 8)

Yup they really are two different pedals that cross in a few places but they are more than 50% different and I think they will have separate identities eventually --- they are healthy cousins If you like one you would likely enjoy the other but not in the same exact way ......

I have both here right now and I use a vintage style Strat into smaller 14 - 18 Watt tweed and el84 amps. To me the HoneyBee and the Strat are made for each other. The dynamics with pick attack and the ease of volume knob placement make it THE most playable pedal ever. I feel super lucky I scored one so fast, and I suppose just as lucky that someone in my town loaned me one (and a EGDM) to check out and try before I buy. I got lucky and found a EGDM already as well!

The SHOD is very hard sounding and I find myself running the focus knob fully ccw to get it do what I want, but I suspect I need to stop trying to make it be a HB and let it do its own thing. It just may be that, as you can tell by my amp choice, I like a less firm platform and the SHOD is rather firm feeling/sounding. BUT, a SHOD >> HB is amazing!

Thanks to Bobby D for all the videos and especially his commentary, but his videos are giving me gas for a Model R and Model H and....
