the SEA BLUE EQ page of madness....

Postby Bobby D » Wed Aug 26, 2009 1:56 am

so....only after ELEVEN DAYS, the SBEQ from newarkwilder showed up. usually i get priority mail ashipping in 2 days from florida to los angeles, but for some inexplicable reason, it took 11 days to go from one side of FLorida to the other..hmmm....

anyhow, here she is, a REAL beauty, thought i would take some pics before she gets beat up and chipped on the bar floors in key west. this pedal is gonna get used a LOT, both for my solo acoustic gigs AND my band gigs on electric guitar.

this is another one i let go of, and immediately regretted

but not twice  this one is staying WITH me 8)

the SBEQ has my favorite of all Bjorn's finishes.....beautiful!
i wish it would never chip off, but eventually it will
it's amazing how this little fellow can smooth out frequencies we're not happy with in some ODs /Distortion boxes. never tried it with a piezo yet.
have fun with Yours, Bobby!

let your bass player try it out too - it likes to get whacked by a stronger signal 8)

i am REALLY loving having the SBEQ again. also used it with my electric rig, and it TOTALLY opened up the clean sound of my amp, and made the SHOD sound even bigger and better. it's really a must have pedal for me.

and on acoustic guitar, it's amazing. i am using it with the full on lr baggs system with both the piezo and ribbon transducer pickup system, and it sounds gorgeous. i can hit the house sound system with a BIG FAT signal, and adjust it to my taste from the SBEQ.....very nice 8)

Well now I am gassing for an SBEQ again. I had one for a while but with Shape and Great Day for UP on the board didn't seem to use it much so I sold it, now I want one again.

i made the mistake of letting go of my first one, and regretted it. and now that i am doing acoustic gigs 3-4 days a week, it is a MUST HAVE unit. i have owned a LOT of acoustic preamp/EQ pedals.....fishman EQ, tech 21 acoustic DI, LR Baggs Para acoustic DI, aphex acoustic exciter, etc etc etc......i have owned most of the major acoustic preamp pedals. and while most of them have more features and "stuff".....the SBEQ has the best sound. the only thing i miss is a notch filter/sweepable midrange type thing......but i really love the simplicity and the tonal sweetness of the SBEQ. and Bjorn taught me that if you want more mids, simply turn the bass and treble DOWN, and crank the gain UP

she's already starting to lose some paint, though...i figure by next year, it will start to look pretty battered.....but i like the look of a well used and well loved pedal

and in the extreme conditions of key west.....i LIKE the fact that it is "gooped" -- it is much more resistant to moisture and humidity that way. also, if some fool spills a beer onto my SBEQ, it will more than likely survive
