Cheers for the Tiny Orange Phaser

My recent acquisition of a Tiny Orange Phaser (thanks, Mike) has ended a decades-long quest for a versatile, low noise phase shifter that fits comfortably on the pedalboard. The TOP is perfect: a vast range of control function, virtually noise free, ample headroom following OD or Fuzz. It does NOT add any unwanted distortion artifacts to the phase shifted tone (which is virtually unprecedented in my experience).

A particular delight for me is the TOP's ability to add subtle modulation, almost hard to identify as phase shift, to tones with moderately heavy OD. Several guitarists whose work in the 70s I admire did this with some frequency (Lowell George and Mick Taylor come to mind) and I've never been able to quite capture that sound until now. Amazingly easy to tune in exactly what I want with the TOP.

I'd be embarrassed to count the number of vintage phase shifters sitting on a shelf in my gear closet. I believe it's time to have a sale.

Exactly !
the subtle 'not quite sure what that is' modulation is a big reason this one lives - the blendable pallette is really nice to dial in just what you want. ... I usually use it before distortion just to add an interesting wobble , especially for solos ... and the voicing is perfect for guitar - more wah voice than phase shifter......
