Hi Roger,
Well, I am most happy you enjoy your Dynamic Orange OD.
There are three of those, and it's a custom circuit, first designed for guitarist that wanted something in between EGD and LGW, somewhat more leaning towards LGW- it is its own circuit and does not share some of the main qualities of LGW.There was a particurlar midrange sculpture desired for this OD and this you can somewhat control with the middle control on top.
This was descibed to me by the guy who suggested the design as a stadium overdrive sound, as in what can you listen to at very loud levels? Also since it was made for stadiums and the guy really would like to be able to control sound from the guitar- not only in dynamics but to set in between sounds with the volumecontrol- hence the internal pot.
The unit you have was made shortly after the first one as shall we say the second guy wanted what the first one had..........
I could not retrive the first one in time for a trip to Chicago so I built a third that was shown at the Chicago Tonefest.
Hm, but then I got thinking that if there's an overdrive with this kind of midrange -could there not also be distortion? Personally I'm more into distortion than overdrive and so Model R was borned- different circuit but a challange and a fun one
as R is very much a distortion pedal.
Now DOOD is the embryo of what will hopefully by october this year be released from the MP factory in the form of Sky Blue OD. This after I had brought a four knob overdrive to Gothenburg Guitar show-that overdrive is similar to DOOD but was custom tweaked again and also with benevolent aid of a friend in Helsingborg, while that is tuned in three positions to make the circuit travel between different instruments as the first DOOD's were mainly meant for telecasters and strats but allowing a fuzz type quality with humbuckers.
So really there is three of the model you have and two are orange, one is sunburst.
The DOOD as well as many others was made as research prototypes, but now after quiet some research and considering this circuit contains an OP amp, it was suggested and I agree that this could be made by the MP factory. Still the exact circuit of DOOD remains a prototype and also therefore I am most happy that you enjoy this particurlar pedal
What the seller meant is likely that this DOOD would work in sequence with HB.........no they are not related circuitwise but again a question of a particurlar midrange and the level of treble
Ah, yes you can turn the internal pot if you like -it controls two things: how radiply the volume control on guitar will reduce output from guitar and upper resonance peak of the pick ups.
Have fun
BJ
